“You have allergies. You’re on medication. Unless you tell me first, I don’t have an obligation to figure it out on my own. The second I heard you collapsed, I didn’t hesitate. I called 911 right away. I don’t think did anything wrong here. If you’re determined to believe this was my fault, then maybe you should take a look at yourself.”

Melissa’s eyes went wide with disbelief–like she was seeing her own daughter for the first time.

Her tear–filled eyes reddened quickly. Her voice trembled with wounded hurt. “Riley, how can you talk to me like that?”

“Riley,” Elsie cut in again, playing the role of the caring daughter, her face full of pain. “How can you say something like that? You’re breaking Mom’s heart. Even if… even if this was a misunderstanding, Mom is still-”

“Enough!” Zavier cut her off with an angry shout.

Everyone froze at the sudden outburst.
