Chapter 494 Failed Seduction
Chapter 494 Failed Seduction
Impossible!
The servant watched him drink the spiked mocha. He should be putty in my hands by now.
Unless… he’s fighting it.
Yes, that must be it.
The dosage was massive–this cold clarity in his eyes can only be the last stand of a stubborn will.

Calming her racing thoughts, Elsie put on a soft, concerned tone. “Sebastian, you look terrible. Are you feeling sick? Let me help you, please.”
Genuine revulsion shone clearly in Sebastian’s eyes. He jerked his hand away to break free of her grasp and glanced at the cup on the table, reaching an unshakable conclusion. “You sent that mocha. You put drugs in it.”
Fear fluttered in Elsie’s chest under his sharp, intimidating stare, but she had already crossed the point of no return.

A twisted look of adoration spread across her face as she stared at him.
Now that her scheme was exposed, she no longer bothered to pretend.
“Yes, I drugged the drink. But I did this for you, for us! A man as outstanding as you does not belong with Riley. She’s domineering and selfish, and she was even married to another man in Havenbrook. She is nowhere near good enough for you.”
She straightened her posture to emphasize her own gentle, innocent nature, her voice dropping to an eerie softness. “I am the one who suits you. I couldn’t stand by and watch your relationship become official, so I had to do something to make you see the
truth.”
Sebastian let out a cold scoff, disgust thick in his voice. “You’re being foolish. Even if your despicable trick had worked today, I would never choose to be with you. Do you truly believe my family would surrender to such underhanded tactics?”
Lost in her own delusions, Elsie did not panic..
She let out a wild laugh instead. “You don’t get to decide this anymore, Sebastian.”
A ruthless glint flashed in her eyes. She grabbed the neckline of her dress and pulled it down hard, exposing a large part of her skin.
Driven by reckless determination, she threw herself forward, aiming to collapse into his arms.
Elsewhere on the estate, Lucas waited patiently for his moment.
Melissa had arranged every detail perfectly.
Once the drugs took hold and Elsie succeeded in her plan, Melissa would send word to him immediately.
Then he would step forward, presenting himself as Riley’s true partner and cutting off all ties between her and Sebastian forever.
Just then, a soft knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts.

Mr. Ashford.” The steward’s polite voice came from the hallway.
Lucas straightened his tie and stood up, wearing a mask of elegant composure.
He opened the door with a smile. “What is it?”
“Mrs. Harper requests your presence,” the steward replied with a slight bow, gesturing for Lucas to follow.
Finally.
Joy surged through Lucas. He followed the steward out of the room.
However, doubt crept in soon after.

Instead of leading him toward the bustling banquet hall, the steward guided him down quiet, empty corridors to a door at the far end of the hallway.
The area was dimly lit, far from all noise and activity, and an unsettling hush hung in the air.
Lucas halted in his tracks, alarm bells ringing loudly in his mind.
He studied the steward’s blank expression and spoke warily, “The meeting place Mrs. Harper and I agreed on is not here. Where are you taking me? As a guest of the party, I should be in the main hall.”
The steward turned to face him, his expression completely emotionless, his tone flat. “A place like this is more fitting for someone of your standing, Mr. Ashford.”
Chills raced down Lucas‘ spine at those cryptic words.
Before he could react further, a door behind him swung open.
Two tall bodyguards dressed in black stepped out, moving with lightning speed.
A burlap sack was thrown over Lucas‘ head, covering him completely.
Darkness swallowed his vision entirely.
“Who are you? Let me go! Help-” Lucas struggled wildly and shouted for help, but his cry was cut short.
One bodyguard raised his hand and struck the back of his neck with a precise chopping motion.
Sharp pain exploded in Lucas‘ neck. His eyes rolled back, and he lost consciousness instantly, slumping limply in the men’s grasp.
The two bodyguards lifted the unconscious Lucas between them and dragged him into the room.
From the lounge shadows emerged Justin, formal and crisp in his tailored suit.
He glanced at Lucas‘ inert form and nodded respectfully toward the steward outside, who reciprocated with equal silence.
Adjusting his collar, Justin slipped away without a sound, dissolving into the dim hallway like a ghost that was never there.
