She tossed her head with a huff, grabbed Justin by the arm, and marched toward the cabin, making it abundantly clear she was done with Colin.
Colin rubbed his nose awkwardly behind them, his earlier bravado deflated, and chose not to fire back.
The private jet cut through the clouds and, after a few hours flight, touched down smoothly at the island’s exclusive private airstrip.
The resort project manager, an old–timer named Jerold, was already waiting with a team of sharp–looking staff. Spotting Riley and her party descending the steps, he hurried forward with a respectful smile.
“Ms. Harper, Mr. Torres, welcome. You must be tired from the journey,” Jerold said, bowing slightly, his voice steady and warm.
Riley nodded at him. “Thank you, Jerold. We appreciate you.”
Jerold then greeted the others with a courteous nod before arranging for a fleet of custom open–top sightseeing buggies to take them to the best villas on the island,
The buggy cruised along the coastal road, offering sweeping views of turquoise water meeting the clear blue sky at the horizon. Though the resort had only recently opened, tourists were already scattered across the beaches, soaking up their holidays.
Jerold had reserved three ocean–view villas with the finest vistas for Riley’s group. The villas were built into the hillside, each thoughtfully positioned, with floor–to–ceiling windows opening onto the endless sea.
Stepping inside his villa, Colin marveled at the sleek interiors and modern design. He turned to Riley, genuinely impressed. “Seriously, you guys did an amazing job with this place. If I’m not mistaken, the overall design and build were handled by Brandon’s company?”
Riley confirmed with a nod. “That’s right. Brandon saw this project as his ticket into the mainland market, so he oversaw everything from materials to construction with incredible attention. He really put his heart into it.”
At the mention of Brandon, Sebastian’s brow arched almost imperceptibly. He remembered Brandon–a persistent presence when he’d been pursuing Riley. But after she’d turned him down, Brandon had graciously redirected his energy into his work. In fact, just days after Riley and Sebastian went public with their marriage, he’d sent hef a celebration gift.
Once they reached their own villa, Jerold thoughtfully arranged for a lavish lunch to be delivered directly to their room.
The island heat was stifling. After a short while in the air–conditioned villa, Riley slipped into a light, summery dress she’d picked up last minute–a pale–blue silk mini with a daring open back that showed off her slender waist. It lent her usual cool elegance a touch of rare playfulness.
When she emerged from the bedroom, she found Sebastian sitting on the sofa, a cold drink in hand, his gaze locked on her waist like it was glued there.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, noticing his silence. She spun around, puzzled. “Doesn’t it look good?”
Back in Nexopolis, she mostly wore crisp business suits. This breezy, carefree style was a novelty even to her. Sebastian set down his glass slowly, his throat bobbing as he swallowed His eyes betrayed a hunger he couldn’t quite hidhe He shook his head, his voice low and a little strained. “It looks great. Almost too great. But don’t you think that’s not a lot of

She walked over to him, took his face in her hands, and gave it an affectionate squeeze like she was soothing a child. “Mr. Torres, please. This is a beach resort. Go look out the window; half the tourists are wearing far less than I am.”
She leaned in, her nose almost brushing his. “You’re a grown, married man. Be strong.”
Her playful reasoning made him chuckle. He pulled her close by the waist, his palm pressing into the bare skin of her back, feeling the warmth radiating from her.
His voice dropped, growing husky. “And if I can’t be strong… do I get a reward tonight?”
Riley caught the suggestive undertone and knew exactly where his mind was heading. She shot him a mock glare, her cheeks flushing, and pushed his face away. “In your dreams!”
Outside, the afternoon sun filtered through the palm fronds, casting dappled shadows across the floor. Inside, the air–conditioning hummed, but it couldn’t cool the simmering tension between them.
They lounged together on the wide, plush sofa. Sebastian, clearly unwilling to behave, let his long fingers wander along the exposed curve of Riley’s waist, trailing lazy circles on her skin.
