Back then, Caleb had pulled every connection he had to tear Sophia and Lucas apart. He cut off every resource and opportunity she held within Havenbrook,
She found herself at a dead end. The entertainment industry was full of ruthless, powerful players, and to make a name for herself, she’d relied on her agent’s arrangements to entertain several influential tycoons.
These men were her stepping stones to fame and fortune–but also a shameful past she desperately wanted to bury.
The man Riley had captured in the photos was far more exceptional than all the rest.
He held no notable public status, yet he was the key connection with every top–tier social circle across Havenbrook.
She’d gone to find him the day before with a clear goal in mind. She hoped he’d use his influence to help her shine at the upcoming Quinc. family dinner and defeat Riley once and for all.
I’d planned every detail perfectly, down to the smallest move. I never thought Riley would catch us on camera.
How has Riley found out about this meeting?
Has she started digging into my private life?
Riley watched Sophia’s crumbling expression, satisfied.
She slipped her phone back into h- pocket, blinked slowly as if struck by a sudden thought, and said, “Sophia, you’ve always refused to tell any of us who Jeren, birth father really is. Every time someone brings it up, you just switch the subject. I finally get it now… Are you staying silent because the truth is too shameful to say? Is Jeremy’s dad that elderly man in the photos–someone old enough to be your grandfather?“.
Everyone in the living room fell into stunned silence, completely blindsided by her words.
Anthea stared at the printed photo in disbelief, then darted her gaze between Sophia and Riley, frozen and unsure how to react at all.
Lucas‘ face instantly turned dark and thunderous.
He’d always believed Sophia was soft and fragile, that she’d endured endless hardships and heartache solely because of him.
But this single photograph revealed a hidden side of her–one dark, unfamiliar, and nothing like the woman he thought he knew. “Sophia, who is this man?” Lucas directed his sharp question straight at Sophia, who was already falling apart with panic.
Sophia jolted violently at his harsh tone. She locked eyes with Lucas, whose cold gaze felt sharp enough to cut her apart, and said, her voice trembling, “No… It’s not like that, Lucas. Please hear me out. He’s just a big shot in the entertainment industry. He helped me book multiple drama roles years ago.
“He’s only in Havenbrook to seek medical treatment right now. I was just being a gracious local host to keep him company. There’s truly nothing romantic or inappropriate between us.”
She quickly regained her bearings and twisted the conversation back to Riley’s accusation, desperate to confuse the crowd. “Riley!

Chapter 91 Just Admit it
You can’t spread malicious lies and slander me just based on one poorly angled, misleading photo. This is utterly ridiculous. You’re committing defamation.”
Riley watched Sophia’s desperate attempts to defend herself, and her tense expression softened, as if she genuinely believed the excuses she’d heard.
“Oh? So this was all just a misunderstanding, then.” She pressed a hand lightly to her chest in feigned relief. “I knew you’d never do something so reckless, Sophia.”
Her sudden shift in attitude left every person in the room caught off guard.
Just as Sophia and Anthea both assumed the tense would fade away, Riley changed her tone once more, wearing a look of innocent, curious confusion.
She said, “To stop all this speculation, why don’t you tell us the truth today? Who is Jeremy’s real father?”
This one question cut far deeper than the controversial photograph ever could.
If I admit it’s that elderly man, I’ll destroy my reputation and future forever.
If I deny it, I have to name another man.
Sophia’s lips shook uncontrollably, unable to form a single word.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she turned to look at Lucas, helpless and defeated.
Lucas‘ heart sank.
He understood exactly what Sophia was silently begging him to do.
Still, face–to–face with Riley, he could Jer publicly admit that he was Jeremy’s father.
He weighed the risks and consequences in a split second.
Lucas stepped forward, reached out a hand toward Riley, and spoke in a gentle, calming tone. “Riley, let this go. It’s nothing but a silly misunderstanding, and Sophia never meant to cause trouble. Don’t stay upset over petty drama. I’ll have the household staff move all your belongings into your private closet, okay?”
He was clearly trying to force an end to the entire messy confrontation.
Riley flinched as if his hand burned her skin, and she stepped sideways to avoid his touch entirely.
She lowered her eyelids slowly, a thoughtful, pensive look spreading across her face.
Every person in the living room held their breath, staring at her, unsure what shocking thing she would say next.
