From His Wife to His Uncle's Wife novel Chapter 261

Juliana left the house early that morning to pick up groceries. Her son was coming home for the weekend, and she wanted to make him something special for dinner, something to help him feel strong again.

She was always tight-fisted with Eleanor, but when it came to her son, she never hesitated to give him everything she could.

As Juliana walked into her shabby apartment, she stopped short. Jessie Goff was standing by the door, waiting for her.

“Ms. Goff?”

Juliana’s surprise quickly turned into excitement. She hurried over to open the door. “Ms. Goff, what brings you here today?”

Her feelings toward Jessie were complicated. She’d quit working as the Goff family’s nanny years ago, mainly because she was afraid her own daughter would eventually start to look too much like her. But the funny thing was, the girl hadn’t ended up looking like anyone in particular. Jessie was confident and beautiful, as if she’d always belonged in the Goff family. They never suspected a thing.

Juliana felt a small sense of relief. “Ms. Goff, I heard you’re getting married.”

The internet had been buzzing with the news that Jessie Goff was remarrying Peter Clarkson. Some people online called it embarrassing, a woman marrying into the same family twice. Those comments drove Juliana crazy, but deep down, she knew Jessie was still better off with the Goffs than she ever would’ve been with her.

Jessie’s expression was icy. She shut the door behind her, locked it, and slapped Juliana across the face.

Juliana reeled, completely stunned.

“Ms. Goff, you…”

Jessie’s voice was cold and sharp. “Patrick Lee came to see me. He’s blackmailing me with a paternity test. He wants ten million. Are you happy now?”

Juliana’s face turned white. “He… he knows?”

Jessie let out a bitter laugh. “Couldn’t you have been more careful? If you were going to do something so cruel, why leave clues for anyone to find?”

Juliana couldn’t even picture it.

Eleanor had already cut her off, but she still paid Jared’s tuition for three years. Juliana knew Eleanor cared about him. But if she ever found out Jared wasn’t really her brother…

Even scarier was the thought of what the Goff family would do if the truth came out. Their revenge would be brutal.

“No… Jessie, please, help me!” Juliana sobbed. “I know I’ve made mistakes, but I’m your mother. I love you, truly.”

Jessie pulled her hand away, disgusted. “Don’t touch me. You’re not my mother. My mother is gone.”

“I came here to warn you,” Jessie said. “Forget this ever happened. Take this secret with you to the grave.”
