Chapter 259 Unreachable
As Leander stared at him, it felt like the whole room had gone quiet.
He had never imagined this. That Leander could be Mornwick’s Mr. Ashcroft. Not in a million years.
Skyler had grown up in this city. He knew the name. Knew what it meant. Even with his spot in Wyvern Blade, even with his pride, he hadn’t earned a fraction of what Leander already had.
Leander ran an empire worth billions. His reach stretched across nations. His men–Frankie, Gumus, Tommy–were powerhouses in their own right.
And beyond all that, Leander was a master. A real one. The kind who could end lives with a glance.
Skyler wasn’t just behind him. He wasn’t even in the same league. And to think, he had looked down on Leander. Thought he was nothing. Now that truth hit him so hard, it made him sick.
At the table, Eleanor and the others didn’t say a word. They sat frozen. Leander didn’t spare them a glance. His eyes locked on Skyler.
His voice cut through the air. “Skyler, I told you before. If you want to pursue Yvette, that’s your business. Do whatever you want, just don’t drag me into it.
“But instead, you came for me. “You tried to play games behind my back. Sneaky little moves. Pathetic, don’t you think? If you want to go at me, just say it. I’m right here.”
Leander’s smirk stayed on his face, calm and mocking. Skyler’s fists tightened, and his eyes shifted again and again.
He stood still for a while, then loosened his fists and took a step back.
“Leander,” he said through gritted teeth, “I underestimated you. I never thought you’d be Mornwick’s Legend.”
“I lost tonight. Completely.”
That step back was him bowing his head. It was quiet, but it said everything–he wasn’t Leander’s equal.
His voice stayed steady, but his eyes burned with unwilling fire.
“I’ll admit I lost today. But that doesn’t mean I’ll always lose.
“Mr. Ashcroft, right now you hold a state under your name. You run Jeff Enterprises. I can’t argue with that. Your power, your money, your name–it’s all far ahead of mine.
“But I swear, after ten years inside Wyvern Blade, after I’ve been hardened and trained, I’ll rise higher than you ever have. I will never let myself fall behind you.”
Every word hit hard. His stare sharpened. After this night, he would leave behind every distraction. Love, pride, comfort–none of it would matter anymore. He would devote himself to Wyvern Blade and train until the day came when he could stand eye to eye with Leander.
He would never forget tonight. One day, he would step on Leander’s name.
“Oh?”
Leander looked at him with mild interest and scanned him from head to toe.
“You think getting into Wyvern Blade will make you strong enough to beat me?”
He shook his head and let out a dry, amused smile.
“You’ve got guts. I’ll give you that. So tonight, I’ll let you off.
“Now get lost.”
Skyler’s face went stiff. As a chosen member of Wyvern Blade, he rarely faced disrespect. Outside of commanders and direct leaders, no one dared speak to him like that.
But with Leander, he didn’t even dare talk back. The scene of those two young heirs crushed to death was still fresh in his mind.
He grabbed his coat from the chair, turned, and marched toward the exit. His eyes brighter with every step.
“One was the young heir of Reginald Enterprises from the Smith family. The other was the Luth family’s prince from Luth Global Holdings. How do you want to handle this?”
Leander laughed, calm and dismissive.
“Send their bodies home. Tell both families that if they have a problem, they can come straight to me. Whether it’s me or Jeff Enterprises, we’re not backing down.”
He stood as the Iron Sovereign, the strongest ranked force in all of Astria. He had taken down masters stronger than most people could imagine. Why would he care about two business dynasties?
If they wanted blood, then they had better be ready to pay in full. Being powerful didn’t just mean strength. It meant daring to use it.
He didn’t raise his voice, but the table nearest to him caught every word.
The former classmates sitting there turned pale. Shock kept them silent.
Leander wasn’t even twenty, yet he stood tall, unshaken by the threat of Astria’s top corporate families. His confidence struck deep. None of them could look away.
“So, this is the real him…”
Eleanor, who had once mocked him with snide remarks, felt her heart sink. Regret hit her hard.
She had thought Yvette was clinging to some flashy nobody. A guy with a little edge and nothing else. But now she realized- Yvette had picked a diamond buried in plain sight.
By the riverside, Skyler stood alone at the bridge, staring at the crashing waves below. His eyes blazed with fire and defiance.
That night, he had gotten word that Wyvern Blade would soon welcome a new Chief Instructor. Graham had told them this person came from an incredible background and had unmatched power. After everything, Skyler made himself a promise. He would train harder than ever. He would climb. And one day, he would stand above Leander.
“Leander, so what if you’re Mr. Ashcroft? So what if you’re the boss of Jeff Enterprises? So what if your martial arts are unbeatable?
“Give me time. I’ll train under the new instructor. One day, I’ll rise to a place even you reach.”
