Which means you’re going to be the mother of the seven realms, be accommodating and make sure you abide by the rules, and also not disgrace our traditions,” he said shakily. “Tell me you understand,” the man added.

I looked at Damon, who was glued to my side like a second skin. His face showed an emotion I couldn’t read; I didn’t know if he was telling me to do it or giving me another message, and that made it harder because I couldn’t see his eyes.

“I will abide by the rules,” I said, still looking at Damon, and I watched in real time as Damon’s face relaxed into a slight grin.

How can this man even grin right now? We were in a lot of trouble, and he looked unbothered.

“I hereby crown you as the Queen to our Lycan King and the mother of the seven realms,” he said and placed the crown on my head.

I knew that the process was supposed to be more glamorous than this, but at the end of the day, he was under duress from the pressing look Damon was giving him.

“What’s next?” Damon looked lazily around as if expecting someone to come out and say otherwise.

“My King, this is not right.” one of the elders stepped out to say and the rest of the elders came to the podium with him.

“And I’d like to watch anybody oppose this. She’s my wife and my Queen now, and there’s no going back. Damon said, and I felt chills run down my spine.

“There is still one tradition left to observe–your wedding night. We need to see blood on your white sheets and on her white gown, too, in the morning,” the elder said.

“And if that does not happen, you know what the consequences are; she would be killed for even trying to marry the King while being impure,” the man said.

“Before that happens, though, we would have to check with the goddess oracle. There is supposed to be a process where the priestess consults the oracle, and there would be a sign if you two are compatible,” a woman said.

“But that is only necessary if there is blood, and it is a waste of time,” he said.

“We will still follow the procedure as it should go, so whatever you do or say, traditions will be followed,” the only woman on the council said.

“Are you done lecturing me on what I’m going to do with my wife?” Damon asked, pulling me closer to him.

“Let’s leave, ma. We have a long night ahead of us.” Damon said and started pulling me away from the stage.
