What was Cierra doing here? How dare they bring her into my house? What the hell? I didn’t realise it but my hold tightened on Eloise, I’m trying so hard not to go off and it feels like she’s my anchor, like she’s the one holding me together in the presence of these people.

“What brought you here?” I asked, trying to sound steady and not let them know that the presence of the woman who turned me into who I am today affected me as much as it did.

“We said to come talk business and Cierra was in town, so she decided to tag along to say hi,” Kyle said with a smirk.

Did he know what happened between the two of us? Why was he smiling like that?

“Hey, D. It’s been a while,” Cierra said, coming closer to me and then dropping a kiss on my cheek.

I felt a small caress on my hand and I looked down to see Eloise, smiling at me. She probably already knew what was going on here.

“Let’s go sit down, shall we?” she said, pointing to the chair in the living room.

We all went to sit down and I sat in the big chair in front of all of them, and Eloise did something that shocked me, she leaned down to whisper.

“Do you want me to sit down on your lap or beside you?” she asked quietly.

Without replying, I pulled her down into my lap and made her wrap her hand around my neck, I felt safe like this. No one could hurt me, because my Queen would protect me.

Nobody will understand how this moment is for me. It’s a lot of things for me, the fear of being affected by this woman’s presence was over my head like a dark cloud. Fuck.

“State your business,” I said.

“So, the business has been going well and I came to ask about the deal we have with the Waveringtons, they are serious about merging with the LA branch,” Kyle said.

“The Waveringtons and I will come up with a solution for that. I’ll get back to you on how it goes.” I said and I saw the vein pulse on his forehead, he noticed that I wasn’t carrying him along in the company issues anymore.

“You know, the company your father left to me has been doing well, I expected you to come and check on the progress, but you haven’t. Why, D?” Cierra said and I stiffened, Eloise felt it and smiled at me.

“I don’t see any reason to, I’m sure you can handle everything just fine,” I said.

“Are you sure that’s the reason? And there’s nothing more to it?” she asked with a knowing smirk.

“Like what?”

“I don’t know, you tell me. You’re the one who has been avoiding me,” she said.

I started laughing all of a sudden. Drawing strength from Eloise. Goddess knows what would have happened if she weren’t here with me, I’d have probably gone crazy. I was already low in my emotions before they came in, I was feeling vulnerable, but Eloise by my side brought my strength back.

“Where do you think you are?” I asked, looking deep in her eyes through my shades. “Hmm? Cierra, come on, answer me.” I saw her visibly shake.

“I won’t ask you once again, answer me, where do you think

“Good that you know that, if you don’t state your business here, you’ll be thrown toy dogs out there, you must think you’re important? Talking about how I’m avoiding you, are you mad? You think I can’t hurt you?” I asked, calmly.

She couldn’t say anything, she just continued staring at me, like she couldn’t recognise who this was. I probably made her remember that night that I took control for the first time, gaining my freedom from her.

“Is there something else you’d like to share, Cierra?” I asked her.

“N–no.”

“I thought so. Now to you, uncle Kyle, the next time you come to my abode, bringing a stranger into my house without my permission, I’ll hang your head on a spike in front of your family house.” I said in a deathly tone and fear passed through his eyes.

“Are we clear?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said and I nodded,

“Good, now is there something else that you’d like to say?”

“There’s something else, it regards the company,” Kyle said.
