Chapter 39 What The Fuck Are You Wearing?
ELOISE.
“I told you to keep yourself safe,” Damon said.
“Well, it’s a contest, a deadly one, and I wasn’t expecting to come back from it without some bruises. I’ll be fine. These injuries will heal up. They just need a few days.” I said, trying to convince him that I was okay, so maybe he would leave the topic about my injuries because I didn’t feel comfortable talking about them.
“You’ne getting checked the moment we get to the hotel. I have my doctor there,”
“Whoa whoa. We are not supposed to leave this place until tomorrow. And a doctor? I thought I was your doctor?” I said, feeling weird because he called another person his doctor.
Was she a woman, too?
Why the fuck was I even asking myself these questions? What was my business?
*I can do whatever the hell I want, ma. I’d love to see them try stopping me from taking you, and about the doctor issue, it’s the doctor who used to treat me. You know bodily injuries,” he corrected, and I nodded.
“Oh, well, there is no need for that because I’m fine. I’ve been checked thoroughly. And I’ve been treated too. So as you can see, I’m good.” I told him, but he ignored me and turned to face the driver.
‘Drive,” he said, and the car started.
‘I didn’t even pack my things,” I said, feeling weird about all this.
“You don’t need anything; you have a closet back at the penthouse. So chill and let’s get you treated, ma.”
“You’re the one who needs treatment. I haven’t had the time to treat you since we had our contract. Have you been taking the teas
told you to get?”
“Yes, ma’am. I’ve been taking them as you prescribed.”
“Okay, do you feel any changes in your body?” I asked him.
“No, it’s been the same. I’ve only been able to sleep okay once, since you left, and it was because I j…
He paused; I knew he wasn’t the type to hold back his opinion because of something, so I was expecting him to finish his sentence.
“Because you what?”
“Forget it. I’ve only slept okay once, though,” he said, and I nodded,
“Can I see your eyes?” I asked carefully, knowing it was a touchy subject for him.
After a few minutes of silence, he finally removed the shades and turned towards me. There it was, okay, his beautiful eyes that I’d missed so much, but I didn’t show it.
I moved closer and placed my hands on his face, turning his head so I could see his eyes properly. I took my flashlight and shone it on his face; they were still the same. It didn’t appear to be fading or getting deeper. After staring into his eyes until I was satisfied, I

“You’re all good, but the stench I smell is still there, which means we need to get to work. Now that I’m free and I don’t have anywhere to be.”
“Okay, ma,” he replied, and we were quiet all the way back to the hotel. It was a very comfortable silence, and I was okay with it.
I had a lot on my mind, especially the whole meeting with the Lockwoods tomorrow. I didn’t even know what to expect, but I knew I wasn’t going to let them walk all over me again.
The car stopped after twenty minutes or so, and the security team from Damon opened my door. I stepped out and adjusted my tattered–looking outfit.
“Thanks,” I said to him, and he just nodded, looking straight ahead.
I walked side by side with Damon until we got to his penthouse.
“Well, I’ll be back. I need to go change out of these clothes.” I told him.
“You don’t need to, you look good either way,” he told me, and that feeling of blushing started coming up again, but I pushed it down. I wasn’t going to embarrass myself in front of him.
“Thanks, but I will feel more comfortable when I change into something else,” I said.
“Let me walk you,” he said, already walking ahead of me.
“No, I can do that myself,” I told him, but he was already ahead of me.
What was all this?
“Are you a creep? Are you planning on watching me change out of my clothes?” I asked him.
“Will you allow me to watch? Cause I’m down,” he said without even looking at me.
How can he say things like this with a straight face?
“No, you’re not allowed to,” I said adamantly as we got to my door. I was about to open my door with my card when he brought one out of his suit jacket and used it to open the door,
“Hold up, you have a key to my room?” I asked him wide–eyed.
“It’s technically a card, but yes, I do,” he replied as he walked into the room and plopped himself down on my bed.
“Why?”
“You don’t have to worry about that. Just get in there, change and come back out.”
