From Rejected Mate to Luna (Julia White) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Lisa’s POV

I hummed to myself as I unpacked another box of kitchen items, carefully arranging the plates in the cabinet according to size. Sunlight

streamed through the windows of our new home – mine and Eric’s. The thought still sent a thrill through me.

After years of hearing about the joy of finding one’s mate, I finally understood. The constant warmth in my chest, the subtle awareness of

Eric’s emotions even when he wasn’t physically present – being mated was everything the elders had described and more.

Our new house was modest but perfect – two bedrooms, a cozy living room, and a kitchen with enough counter space for me to try those

recipes I’d been collecting. As Eric’s mate and the future Beta female of the pack, we’d been granted this home on the northeastern edge of the territory, close enough to the community center for quick access but private enough for a new couple.

I glanced around at the half-unpacked boxes scattered throughout the house. Most of the heavy lifting and organizing had fallen to me over the past few days. Not that I minded – Eric needed to stay close to his family home to protect his sister Julia after everything that had happened with Nathan. The entire pack was on edge, with security patrols doubled and Julia rarely left alone. Eric was torn between

his duties to his family and his desire to start our life together.

“It’s going to be worth it,” I told myself, carefully hanging a framed photo of us on the wall. I’d deliberately chosen warm, earthy colors for our home, knowing they would soothe Eric’s wolf. The throw pillows on the couch matched the forest green accent wall I’d painted yesterday, and I’d splurged on thick, soft rugs for the hardwood floors.

I smiled as I imagined Eric coming home, kicking off his shoes, and sinking into our couch after a long day. He’d notice the colors I picked just for him, the soft blanket I placed on his side of the couch, all the little touches meant to make him feel at home. Just thinking about his smile when he saw it all made my heart feel so full it might burst.

This was what being mates felt like – this happiness that came from knowing exactly what would make him happy. Every time I placed something in our house, I felt this bubble of joy inside me. Not just my own happiness, but his too, coming through our bond. It was the

best feeling in the world.

Sometimes I still couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have found my mate. While other wolves spent years searching, the Moon Goddess had blessed me with Eric – my perfect match, my other half. With everything crazy happening in the pack lately, having this connection with him made me feel safe and complete in a way nothing else could. I’d never been happier in my entire life.

My wolf stirred inside me, suddenly alert. Mate coming, she announced, her excitement matching mine.

I paused in my unpacking, focusing on our bond. Sure enough, I could feel Eric’s presence growing stronger. I hurried to the front window and peered out, spotting his black truck turning into our driveway. My heart raced with anticipation – I hadn’t expected him until evening.

Not bothering with shoes, I rushed outside onto the porch, watching as he parked and climbed out of the truck. His face lit up when he saw me, that special smile he reserved just for me spreading across his features.

“Surprise,” he called, striding toward me with that confident walk that always made my knees weak.

“What are you doing here?” I asked when we finally broke apart. “I thought you had pack business all day.”

“Dad gave me a few hours off,” Eric said, his arms still wrapped around my waist. “Said I was driving everyone crazy pacing around like a

caged animal. His eyes roamed over my face hungrily. “I missed you.”

“It’s only been a few days, I laughed, even as my body responded to his nearness, my skin warming under his gaze.

“A few days too many,” he murmured, leaning down to nuzzle my neck where his mark stood out against my skin. “Our bed feels empty

without you.”

I shivered as his lips brushed against the sensitive spot. “Want to see what I’ve done with the place?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady despite the heat spreading through my body. “I’ve unpacked most of the kitchen and the living room is almost finished.”

Eric’s eyes darkened as he pulled back to look at me. “Later,” he said, his voice dropping to that low register that always made my stomach

flip. “Right now, I have something more important to do.”

Before I could respond, he guided me back through the doorway, kicking the front door closed behind us and turning the lock with a decisive click. In one swift movement, he pressed me against the wall, his body hard and warm against mine. His mouth found my neck, kissing that sensitive spot just below my ear that always made my knees weak.

“Eric,” I gasped as his hands slid under my t-shirt, his touch leaving trails of fire across my skin.

“I’ve been thinking about this all day,” he murmured against my neck, his breath hot against my skin. “About coming home to you.”

His hands moved higher, cupping my breasts over my bra, thumbs circling my nipples until they hardened beneath the fabric. I moaned, arching into his touch, heat pooling between my legs. When his thigh pressed between mine, I couldn’t help grinding against it, seeking

more friction.

Eric’s mouth captured mine again, hungry and demanding. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer, lost in the sensation of his hands, his mouth, his body pressed against mine. His fingers deftly unbuttoned my jeans, sliding inside to find me already wet for

him.

“So ready for me,” he growled, his voice rough with desire.

The pleasure built quickly as his fingers worked magic against me. I was close, so close to falling apart in his arms right there in our entryway. But something made me pull back, placing my hands on his chest.

“Wait,” I said breathlessly.

Concern immediately replaced the desire in his eyes. “What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?”

I shook my head, smiling at his instant protectiveness. “No, nothing like that.” I took his face in my hands. “I want our first time in our

new home to be special. In our bedroom.

Understanding dawned on his face, followed by a smile that made my heart race even faster.

“Do you want to see our bedroom?” I asked, biting my lip. “I made sure it was the first room I set up completely.”

Without warning, Eric bent and swept me into his arms. I squealed in surprise, wrapping my arms around his neck.

“Which way?” he asked, his voice husky with desire.

“Down the hall, first door on the right,” I directed, my body already humming with anticipation.

He carried me through the house, pausing in the doorway of our bedroom to take in the space I’d created for us. The king-sized bed

dominated the room, made up with the soft gray bedding we’d chosen together. Sheer curtains filtered the sunlight, casting the room in a

warm glow.

“Perfect,” Eric murmured, but he wasn’t looking at the room anymore. His eyes were fixed on me, filled with hunger and something

deeper, more profound.
