“My backup is here!”

Leander’s eyes sparkled with mischief as he regarded Leon, who appeared as pale as a ghost.
Leon’s expression was bleak, and his heart raced with trepidation.
He never anticipated that Leander’s backup to be Jamero.
In the Ravenridge underworld, Jamero was a well–known figure. Although he seemed to be merely a driver for Frankie, he possessed tremendous power, second only to Frankie himself. His influence and resources were far beyond what someone like Tobias could ever imagine.
Back when Frankie was still a street thug, Tobias was just one of Jamero’s lackeys. Later, as Frankie rose to prominence and became the wealthiest man in Ravenridge, Jamero became his personal driver. Tobias and his crew climbed the ranks thanks to Frankie’s backing, eventually establishing themselves as the dominant force in the Northern District. Despite their considerable power, they would still bow and show deference to Jamero whenever they encountered him.
He was someone no one could not afford to offend.
Leon could not grasp how Leander, merely a bartender, could summon someone as formidable as Jamero.
Throughout Ravenridge and even in neighboring cities, numerous wealthy individuals catered to Jamero, flattering him with ingratiating smiles. Their children trembled in his presence like frightened quails. But seeing Jamero show such respect to Leander, Leon could not comprehend the true extent of Leander’s terrifying identity.
“Hmm?”
As Leander spoke, Jamero’s sharp gaze suddenly turned to Leon.
“Leon, what is happening? Did you offend Mr. Leander?”
Leon’s pupils dilated, and cold sweat trickled down his face, which had turned ghostly white.
“Mr. Coppell, this… I…”
He struggled to find words, his body frozen in fear under Jamero’s piercing gaze.
Once, Jamero had been the most feared enforcer under Frankie, a man whose mere name instilled terror in others. Leon feared that Jamero, in his rage, might strike him right then and
there.

Slap!
Jamero’s eyes blazed with fury. He stepped forward and struck Leon forcefully across the face.
Jamero was incredibly strong, capable of lifting over a hundred pounds with one hand. The slap sent Leon reeling, his cheek swelling instantly, and two bloody teeth flew from his mouth.
However, Leon dared not retaliate, and the thirty or so men with him just stood there, trembling and too frightened to act.
“Leon, I recommended you to Tobias because I believed you were a capable man. You were assigned to oversee the central business district. Have you grown arrogant?
“Do you even understand who Mr. Leander is? How could you dare to offend him?”
Jamero’s eyes flashed with intensity as he kicked Leon, forcing him to stumble back half a
meter.
“He is Mr. Wainwright’s benefactor. Even Mr. Wainwright treats Mr. Leander with the utmost respect. Do you really want to challenge him? Are you eager to end your own life?”
Leon’s back was drenched in sweat, and terror gripped his heart.
Just a few days ago, rumors circulated about a mysterious figure supporting Frankie, someone who was a major shareholder in Leandrix Corp. and Frankie’s benefactor. Many speculated about this enigmatic figure’s identity, but Leon had never imagined it would be Leander.
“Mr. Coppell, I… I did not know it was Mr. Leander!”
Leon now wished he were dead. He had gathered a crew to seek revenge for Tobias, hoping to gain recognition. Now, he had offended the boss of his boss. Forget about gaining favor. It would be a miracle if he left the bar alive tonight.
“You did not know? Let me enlighten you!”
Jamero was known for his ruthless methods. Now that Leon had offended Leander, Jamero feared that Leander might hold this incident against Frankie. Jamero came to a decision, grabbed a nearby metal chair, and prepared to bring it down on Leon,
Leon’s heart sank. He dared not dodge and just watched as the chair descended.
Clang!
At that moment, a slender, pale hand halted the chair mid–air. Jamero’s heart raced, and he abruptly stopped his attack.

Jamero was internally shaken. He had swung the chair with all his might, yet Leander had casually blocked it with a single hand.
“There is no need for such violence.”
Leander withdrew his hand and shook his head.
“He only wanted to avenge Tobias. Although he chose the wrong target, it is understandable.”
Leander turned his indifferent gaze toward Leon.
“I will overlook this today due to your ignorance. However, the next time you seek revenge, make sure you know if you have the ability to do so.”
In that moment, Leon felt as if he had been pulled from hell to heaven. He hastily knelt and vigorously nodded.
“Mr. Leander, I understand. I understand! I will never do this again!”
Leander’s expression remained stoic as he suddenly reached out, grabbing Leon by the collar, and effortlessly lifting him as if he were a toy.
Everyone present was stunned. Even Jamero’s eyes widened with surprise. He had initially thought Leander was merely a wealthy kid supporting Frankie, but now he realized that Leander was far more dangerous than he had ever imagined.
“From this day forward, I want you to keep a close watch on this bar. There is a waitress named Madeline. I want you to assign people to guarantee her safety twenty–four hours a day, without exception.
“If anything happens to her, or if she faces any injustice, I will first go after you!”
Leon repeatedly nodded and thumped his chest in assurance,
“Mr. Leander, rest assured! In the central business district, my word is law!”
Leander nodded and finally released Leon. He then lightly kicked Tobias, who had been pretending to be unconscious, sending him sprawling several feet away.
Tobias had realized things were not going well when Jamero appeared. He pretended to be unconscious the entire time, but Leander’s kick caused him to cry out in pain.
“I do not care who you are or what role you play under Frankie. By midnight tonight, you had better be out of Ravenridge.

Leander’s voice remained calm, yet it was infused with a chilling threat, making Tobias feel as if he had fallen into an icy abyss.
He had spent years working under Frankie in Ravenridge and had finally gained a position of power in the Northern District. He had envisioned a life filled with luxury, with wealth and women at his fingertips. Yet, Leander’s words shattered all his dreams for the future.
Despite his despair, Tobias dared not linger. Struggling to his feet, he hurriedly fled. He knew that if he remained in Ravenridge past midnight, Leander would undoubtedly follow through on his threat.
Between the future he dreamed of and his life, his life was clearly more important.
Tobias fled in disgrace. It was only then that Leander shifted his focus to the remaining patrons in the bar. His gaze finally settled on the bar owner, Daniel.
“Regarding tonight’s events, I expect everyone here to act as if nothing occurred. I trust you understand my meaning.”
With that, Leander signaled to Jamero and exited the bar.
The patrons inside stared in astonishment, especially Daniel, who stood frozen in shock, unable to respond.
They had all assumed that Leander would face severe repercussions for beating up Tobias. Perhaps he might meet a violent end in retaliation.
Unexpectedly, Leander emerged unscathed while the once–proud Tobias was expelled from Ravenridge in humiliation.
Daniel finally snapped out of his stupor and gasped in disbelief.
He had always believed that Leander was a powerless bartender, someone he could easily bully. Now, he realized that Leander was anything but ordinary. He was, in fact, an extraordinarily formidable figure.
