Leander sat quietly within the Woods‘ manor, gazing up at the night sky. Earlier, at the Wood family banquet, he had been nothing more than an overlooked nobody, ignored by nearly everyone present. But now, he had undoubtedly become the central figure of the entire Wood family.
Whether it was Clovis, Arnold, of Aveline, all of them looked at the young man seated calmly in his chair as if he were a god, their eyes filled with reverence and awe. The earth–shattering battle at Ivyshore Bay had completely overturned their understanding of the world.
Among the Woods, Richard was a martial practitioner. He had often described to them what true power looked like–vast, overwhelming, capable of swallowing the world whole. But they had always taken it as something abstract, almost mythical, never fully believing it.
It wasn’t until now, witnessing the shocking clash between Leander and Homer, that they finally understood what a martial practitioner was truly capable of–it was power that could overturn seas and split mountains.
“Leander… you kept so much from us,” Billy said as he sat beside him, his face filled with emotion. Before, when he addressed Leander, it had been the easy familiarity between good friends. But now, saying that same name carried a weight far greater than gold, tinged with a quiet sense of awe.
Leander patted Billy’s shoulder, offering an apologetic smile. “I came to Highcrest to live quietly for a while. I didn’t want my past to get involved here, so I kept things hidden. Sorry about that.”
Looking at his calm and gentle smile, Billy couldn’t help but wonder if this was even the same man who had just commanded storms and ruled over life and death out at sea.
“Sovereign Ashcroft!”
Clovis, who had just returned from outside, hurried into the garden. “Colden, head of the Gessinger family, dissolved the Gessinger Association half an hour ago. Their villa is completely empty–it looks like they’ve all left!”
Leander nodded lightly, while Richard let out a sigh of emotion. “The Gessinger family of Highcrest… 200 years of legacy, and now it’s all come to an end.”
With the Ancestor of the Gessinger family dead, and Leander having casually killed one of their Transcendent Realm guardians, the family was left with only Colden as their sole remaining expert. With such strength, they had completely lost any right to challenge Leander. If they hadn’t fled, their entire bloodline would have been wiped out.
“Old Mr. Wood,” Leander said, rubbing his arm slightly, “the Gessinger family has been removed from its position as Highcrest’s ruling power. When you move to reorganize Highcrest’s structure, if you encounter any resistance, just inform Jeff Enterprises. I’ve already spoken to them–they’ll provide your family with full support.”
Richard clasped his hands together and bowed deeply in gratitude. “Thank you, Sovereign Ashcroft, for your great kindness. By now, every major family in Highcrest has heard about the battle at lvyshore Bay. They all know that my family stands behind you. In all of Highcrest, no one will dare oppose us anymore–otherwise, they’ll end up just like the Dufay family… or the Gessinger family!”
Leander nodded faintly, then stood up. His gaze swept briefly over Billy before he turned to Richard with a slight smile. “Old Mr. Wood, may I ask you for a small favor?”
Richard didn’t dare refuse and quickly replied, “Please, just say the word. I’ll see it done.”

Leander smiled and pointed at Billy. “The next time I come over, I want him to be the one welcoming me.”

Richard was momentarily stunned, then nodded without hesitation. “As the guardian of the Wood family, I swear–after my son Clovis, the next head of the Wood family will be Billy!”
With Richard’s promise secured, Leander patted Billy on the shoulder once more and began walking toward the exit of the estate.
Leander had known Billy for a month. Though Billy had spent that entire time dragging him through nightlife and indulgent pleasures, Leander had long since seen through him.
Billy was the one truly hiding in plain sight–someone who observed everything, remembered everything, and possessed genuine wisdom, capable of controlling the bigger picture.
It was only because his older brother Arnold stood above him, and because the Wood family had always followed the rule of seniority, that Billy chose to conceal his abilities. With his elder brother in power, he willingly played the part of a carefree playboy, staying out of family affairs. But deep down, he had ambitions of his own. The “favor” Leander had asked of Richard was precisely to give Billy the chance to prove himself.
Billy stood there, stunned. After more than ten seconds, tears welled up in his eyes as he shouted toward Leander’s departing figure, “Leander, you’ve gotta come back next time! When y
you do, I’ll still take you to the clubs–models, celebrities, you name it. Just you and me, like always, brothers!”
There was less frivolity in his voice now, and far more sincerity and attachment.
This time, Leander didn’t refuse. With his back still turned, he simply nodded. “Sure. Next time I come, I’m picking the most expensive one.”
By the time his words faded, he had already disappeared beyond the gates of the estate, leaving everyone behind in a quiet daze.
Outside Wood Manor, a lone figure sat by the roadside, her posture lonely and subdued. The moment she saw Leander step out, she looked up in surprise and hurried toward him.
When she reached his side and saw the calm expression on his face, her own expression stiffened slightly. With a hint of emotion, she said, “Should I call you Leander… or Jeff?”
Leander looked at the stubborn yet strong–willed girl and smiled faintly. “Jeff is just an alias I use for a certain belief. Leander is my real name.”
Rachel recalled the scene from earlier–the raging sea, the towering waves, and Leander stirring storms with a single hand–and for a moment, she was lost in thought.
“You’re leaving, aren’t you?” she asked, gazing at his unmatched features, her expression tinged with sadness.
Leander didn’t answer. He only smiled slightly. From that alone, she already understood. Her expression dimmed immediately. “Will !… ever see you again?”
Leander turned, hands behind his back, his gaze gentle. “If we meet again, it’ll be fate. But like I said before, you and I don’t belong to the same world. It’s best not to hold onto any fantasies about me. Billy is a good man–he’ll treat you wholeheartedly.”
Rachel stood frozen. By the time she came back to herself, Leander had already disappeared from her sight.
A tear slid silently down her cheek. This encounter… had always been one–sided.
