The host wasn’t surprised. "So, what’s the relationship between you and Professor Sinclair?" she asked. "You know, he’s had a Weibo account for years and has never followed a single person."
Chloe Sinclair’s smile didn’t waver. "He’s my second brother," she said.
The host was a little surprised.
She was a parachuted-in replacement. She knew this show had been blowing up lately with a ton of online buzz, so she’d pushed out the previous host to get on the show herself.
She used to be an entertainment host, so she knew how to chase clout. Asking a question like this could not only put the contestant on the spot but also generate buzz.
When the episode aired, it was guaranteed to get a lot of attention.
But she hadn’t expected Chloe Sinclair to admit it so openly.
What was even more shocking was that Chloe Sinclair had just come right out and admitted Landon Sinclair was her second brother.
The host was at a loss for a response. She swallowed, her smile stiffening. "I heard you’re the Sinclair Family’s adopted daughter..."
"Who said that?" Chloe Sinclair suddenly cut her off.
The host’s mouth fell slightly open. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say.
"Well..."
Backstage, the director was displeased. He hadn’t expected this parachuted-in host to be so eager to stir up trouble.
He picked up the walkie-talkie and said in a low voice, "Skip the question. Announce the next round."
Hearing the voice in her earpiece, the host’s face turned as dark as ink.
However, this only stoked her rebellious streak.
She yanked out her earpiece, clenching it in her fist.
Seeing this, Director Warren was furious, but he was too far away to stop her.
The host just looked at Chloe Sinclair, a flicker of defiance in her eyes. "That’s what everyone is saying online."
"Is that so?" Chloe Sinclair gave a faint smile, her voice dangerously charming. "You know, spreading rumors is grounds for a lawsuit."
After getting just a small taste of success, she’d suddenly become arrogant and lost all sense of proportion.
"Will this have a negative impact on Chloe Sinclair?"
Director Warren smiled. "Chloe is a smart girl. The fact that she dared to say that proves she isn’t afraid in the slightest."
The assistant director had a sudden epiphany.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at his own foolishness.
If you had to say who on the show had the most powerful backing, it would have to be Chloe Sinclair.
Never mind the titans from every field who came to support her—even that ’Demon-Faced Asura’ had personally called to insist that they take good care of Chloe Sinclair.
Recalling the man’s tone on that call, Director Warren instinctively flinched.
He couldn’t understand how someone who wasn’t even thirty years old could have such a powerful presence.
But then again, for Chloe Sinclair to know someone like that... could she be... the group’s pampered favorite?
