Ian Winters was a little suspicious. It took him a few glances to confirm it, but yes, that was definitely a look of pure gloating in Jasper Shaw’s eyes.
It was gloating, plain and simple!
Before he could even process it, he heard his boss slowly say, "Chloe said she’s going to take me to meet her parents for the New Year."
Ian Winters: "..."
There was a saying online: minimal damage, maximum humiliation.
With Jasper Shaw, it was all or nothing. Now that he had succeeded, he was advancing like an unstoppable force.
It hadn’t even been half a month since they made their relationship official, and they were already at the stage of meeting her parents.
Remembering that he was still single, Ian Winters felt his chest fill with sour grapes as he stared at his boss.
"Sir, if you don’t need anything else, I’ll head out."
Jasper Shaw raised an eyebrow at Ian Winters’s resentful glare. "Once this month is over, I’ll give you a vacation."
"And a raise."
At these words, Ian Winters instantly perked up.
’The vacation wasn’t a big deal. As long as he got paid, that was what mattered.’
After Ian Winters left the office, he was immediately surrounded by several secretaries.
"Special Assistant Winters, what did the boss say? What kind of mood is he in?"
The group stared at Ian Winters anxiously, as if their combined gazes could bore a hole right through him.
Ian Winters chuckled and gave the crowd a gentle look. "The boss is in a good mood today. If you have reports to turn in, you’d better do it now while he’s happy."
The group breathed a collective sigh of relief and scurried back to their desks to grab their materials.

Now that the lab project was finished, Chloe Sinclair had significantly more free time.
But even though the semester was almost over, she didn’t know very many of her classmates.
