No one expected Chloe to say such a thing. Mr. Rhodes was instantly put on the spot, his face flushing red.
"Since we don’t know them, then let’s have security escort them out."
At this point, Sinclair stepped forward as well and called for security.
Mr. Rhodes’s face burned with humiliation. He looked at Yuna Rhodes, his expression darkening. "Let’s go!"
Today, he was destined to become the laughingstock of high society.
At this thought, his anger toward Yuna Rhodes flared even higher.
He hissed, "Just you wait. See how I deal with you when we get home!"
Yuna Rhodes’s face paled. She cast a pleading look at Nina Sinclair. "Nina, help me explain..."
Nina Sinclair went rigid, having been suddenly called out. ’She couldn’t believe Yuna Rhodes was this stupid, trying to drag her down too at a time like this.’
’She could barely save her own skin right now, let alone help Yuna.’
So, Nina Sinclair could only sigh and say, "Yuna, you should head back for now."
Then, she leaned closer to Yuna Rhodes and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, "You go first. I’ll try to smooth things over for you later."
Yuna Rhodes furrowed her brow, but ultimately refrained from doing anything else foolish. She apologized to Mr. Sinclair and left.
This little interlude made many people take notice of Chloe Sinclair.
In a dimly lit private room, a reserved, handsome man sat on a black leather sofa, idly toying with a silver lighter in his hand.
His face was chiseled and stern, and his dark, quiet eyes held a captivating light. He naturally exuded an aura of extraordinary nobility.
Jasper Shaw listened as his subordinate reported on the events at the banquet. His dark eyes deepened in color before he leaned back lazily against the sofa, a smile playing on his lips.
"This young lady is quite interesting."
She managed to surprise him every time they met.
Then, another long silence followed.
The assistant standing beside him seemed used to this, remaining quietly behind Jasper Shaw, waiting for his boss to speak.
CLICK—
The silver lighter flared, casting an orange-yellow glow in the dim room. In its faint light, Jasper Shaw’s gaze seemed even more profound, as if it could drown a person in its depths.
"The weather is turning cold. It’s time for the Rhodes Group to meet its end."
As he spoke, he turned to Chloe Sinclair, his eyes holding a faint, expectant hope.
Nina Sinclair clenched her fists tightly, her knuckles turning white.
But when she thought about how Chloe was about to become the laughingstock of the entire party, a truly genuine smile spread across her face.
"Chloe, hurry and show us your gift. Dad’s getting anxious."
Chloe lowered her head, saying nothing.
Mr. Sinclair, thinking Chloe’s gift might not be very impressive, offered words of comfort: "My dear daughter, I’ll love whatever you give me."
Chloe was suddenly reminded of her past life.
In that life, she had done as Nina Sinclair suggested and actually given Mr. Sinclair a watch.
But back then, even as voices of mockery filled the room, Mr. Sinclair had accepted it with a smile.
For some reason, Chloe felt her eyes burn. In a low voice, she said, "I also wrote a Hundred Longevity Map for Dad myself."
"Impossible! I thought you were giving him..."
