"His days are mostly spent with his birds or playing chess. You can go anytime."
What Jasper Shaw didn’t mention was that for the past few days, the old man had been anxiously pacing at home. Moreover, the staff at the family estate were at their wit’s end.
The family estate was large, and his grandfather, worried Chloe Sinclair might visit without warning, had the staff clean the entire residence every single day.
He hadn’t even shown up at his favorite chess club in the park recently.
He spent all day cooped up in the old house with his myna bird.
Chloe took him at his word and said, "I’ll visit your grandfather as soon as my exams are over."
After saying that, something occurred to Chloe, and she asked, "Does your grandfather like tea?"
It was something she had noticed in her previous life.
No matter where he went, the old man always carried a teacup, and he drank a different kind of tea almost every day.
Jasper paused, surprised for a second, then nodded. "Yes, Grandpa loves tea."
Chloe understood. She thought about the Da Hong Pao tea she had brought from Kennet and decided to give it to his grandfather as a gift.
After all, she wasn’t much of a tea drinker. The Da Hong Pao she had was exceptionally rare—just six small clusters of leaves—a variety considered a national treasure.
Chloe herself felt it would be a waste for it to be drunk by someone who couldn’t appreciate it.
When Chloe remained silent for a long time, Jasper assumed she was worrying about a gift for their first meeting.
"Grandpa doesn’t care about that sort of thing. Your presence will be more than enough."
Jasper wasn’t lying.
The old man was genuinely hoping Chloe would visit the family home soon.
Chloe, however, didn’t agree. "That won’t do," she said. "This will be my first time meeting your grandfather. As the younger one, I absolutely can’t show up without a gift."
Not only did she have to bring one, but it also had to be a thoughtful one.
Seeing this, Jasper was slightly exasperated. "I’ll prepare the gift for you. Don’t worry about it."
A warmth spread through Chloe’s heart, and she didn’t refuse his offer.
Just then, her stomach let out a sudden RUMBLE. Chloe’s face turned slightly red. "I’m hungry."
A moment later, Jasper was heading into the kitchen with the bags.
