Bob Hayes really wanted to slap himself hard across the face.
’Look at you, slacking off on your studies. Now you can’t even string a sentence together in front of your dream girl!’
However, Chloe Sinclair just smiled, the corners of her lips curling up to reveal two small dimples on her cheeks.
"I’m heading home now. Drive safe."
"..."
After a long moment, it finally dawned on Bob Hayes, and he nodded. "Oh, okay, okay."
—
Back home, the first floor was still brightly lit.
The Sinclair family were all sitting on the sofa. A television was on in the background, but no one was watching it.
Chloe Sinclair slipped on her slippers and walked into the living room, only to find all the men staring at her. She froze for a second, then asked, "What’s wrong?"
The men exchanged a look and then, surprisingly, said in unison, "Nothing."
After they spoke, everyone froze again for a moment.
They glared at each other, each one exasperated by the others’ failure to step up.
Their gazes clashed in mid-air, sparks flying from their eyes.
Chloe Sinclair was speechless.
’What kind of silent game are these guys playing?’
"Dad, I’m going up to get some rest."
Mr. Sinclair was taken aback and quickly said, "Wait."
Chloe Sinclair turned back. "What is it?"
Mr. Sinclair’s heart skipped a beat, but he still asked cautiously, "It’s so late. Were you out with that brat from the Shaw Family?"
’That brat from the Shaw Family?’
Chloe Sinclair thought that the man from the Shaw Family was certainly no brat.
’He’s a wolf now.’
’A man-eating wolf.’
