Chapter 89: Chapter 89: The Only Contestant with a Perfect Score

Landon Sinclair instinctively glanced down at the experiment report in his hands.

At first, he only gave it a cursory glance, but he gradually began to notice something was amiss.

He looked up, a hint of shock on his face.

By this time, Chloe Sinclair had already walked onto the stage, a gentle smile on her face as she looked at the judges.

Seeing that her research topic was the same as Jolie Yates’s, Hector York assumed the other senior judges wouldn’t be interested. Just as he was about to speak, Mr. Sutton suddenly shot to his feet, gesticulating excitedly. "You transitioned from a two-dimensional quantum state to three-dimensional?"

Chloe Sinclair nodded. "I discovered a metal-insulator transition in ZrTe5. In this three-dimensional system, I found that the electrons do not feel the Lorentz force, yet their momentum remains a good quantum number. This results in dispersive Landau levels along the direction of the magnetic field, which is why the Hall effect is not normally observed in three-dimensional systems."

"On the topological semimetal, I constructed a transport channel using ’Fermi worms’ and wormhole tunneling. I’ve also completed all the subsequent tunneling calculations and have the numerical data. You can see the experimental data in the report."

Chloe Sinclair had essentially presented a short thesis. The more Mr. Sutton and Landon Sinclair read, the more astonished they became.

He paused for a moment, then continued, "Therefore, I’m giving you a perfect score of 100."

The other contestants hadn’t expected Landon Sinclair to give Chloe Sinclair such a high evaluation. Their jaws dropped, and they were clearly slow to react.

"Is the three-dimensional quantum Hall effect really such a big deal? Why are Mr. Sutton and Professor Sinclair so surprised?" a contestant studying biology couldn’t help but ask.

Though Jolie Yates’s expression was grim, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at such a naive question. "It’s been one of the hottest research topics in condensed matter physics for years," she said. "There are over three hundred labs worldwide dedicated solely to the Hall effect, but until now, it has only ever been observed in two dimensions."

Jolie Yates glared resentfully at Chloe Sinclair, her eyes filled with loathing.

While Jolie Yates was lost in her thoughts, the audience and the show’s staff erupted in thunderous applause.

Jolie Yates froze. After asking a nearby contestant what happened, she learned that Chloe Sinclair had become the first contestant in the ten-year history of *Genius* to receive a perfect score from all the judges.
