As Chloe Sinclair felt those things surge into her mind, her body filled with power.
She lowered her gaze, then sharply kicked out a long leg.
"CRASH—"
The car door fell to the ground.
Landon Sinclair jumped, and the corner of his mouth twitched visibly as he took in the scene.
Then, he saw Chloe Sinclair standing there with her head bowed, her jet-black hair hiding her expression.
Before he could even process his confusion, he watched as his sister actually pulled a club from the trunk.
The next moment, a smile curled on her lips.
Under the orange glow of the streetlights, the girl’s bangs cast a shadow over her face, hiding her eyes. But just from the sight of her thin, cold smile, the men who had climbed out of the Santana instinctively took a step back.
Chloe Sinclair looked at the men before her, the mockery in her eyes growing more intense.
"If you wanted to kill my second brother, why did you only send this bunch?"
Chloe Sinclair spoke as she moved to stand back-to-back with Warren and Landon Sinclair.
’She was a little relieved, though. The men chasing them today all looked like common street thugs.’
’They looked scary, but beyond their numbers, they were completely useless.’
A few of the thugs tightened their grip on their stun batons, ready to advance, but the system detected their intentions instantly.
Chloe Sinclair’s smile grew wider. Head still lowered, her expression unreadable, she tilted her head to the side and threatened, "You want to give it a try?"
The thug preparing a sneak attack froze, so startled he dropped his stun baton.
For a moment, none of the thugs dared to step forward.
A cold glint flashed in Chloe Sinclair’s eyes, cowing the thugs even further.
Chloe Sinclair turned her head slightly and said in a voice only the three of them could hear, "Wait for an opening, get in the car, and take my brother away."
Landon Sinclair looked like he wanted to say something but held his tongue. Director Warren, on the other hand, gave it a moment of thought before nodding.
She glanced back and saw Landon Sinclair still frozen in place, so she shoved him, a seriousness she’d never shown before flashing in her eyes. "Go!"
Landon Sinclair stumbled from the shove. By the time he caught his balance, Chloe Sinclair had already turned back around and knocked down two men in the blink of an eye.
"Warren, I’m going to help Chloe."
With that, he ran straight into the crowd.
Warren panicked and grabbed him, his voice laced with urgency. "Professor Sinclair, you can’t get hurt! I’ll stay behind and help Miss Sinclair!"
"Chloe Sinclair is my sister. I can’t let her face this danger alone."
With that, he broke free of Warren’s grip and ran to help Chloe Sinclair, who was still brawling with the men.
Left with no other choice, Warren followed close behind to protect them both.
Landon Sinclair’s skills were decent, but the drawn-out brawl was taking a toll on his stamina.
He’d already taken several punches to the face.
