"A fine spring day can’t compare to a dream, where the green grass is sweet~"
Su Chen sat on a chair in the living room, humming a tune smugly.
The smile on his face grew wider as he recalled the earlier scene.
"Bro, you look like the cat that got the cream. What’s with the huge grin?" At some point, Su Qingya had sat down next to him.
She was propping her chin on her hand, watching him.
"Ahem, ahem. When did you come down? I didn’t even see you!"
"I’ve been sitting here for a while! The moment I came down, I saw *someone* grinning like a fool. Bro, did something good happen?"
Su Qingya leaned in close to Su Chen, a mischievous smirk on her face.
Although she was young, she knew a thing or two about romance. She’d noticed something was up between Su Chen and Chen Mengyan when they were shopping today.
First the clothes, then the bags... If there was nothing going on between them, there was no way in hell Su Qingya would believe it.
Feeling like his secret had been exposed, Su Chen irritably pushed her head away.
"What are you talking about? Go amuse yourself somewhere else."
"Tch." Su Qingya rolled her eyes at Su Chen and got up to walk toward the kitchen.
A moment later, she reappeared holding a small bag full of snacks in her left hand and a fruit platter in her right.
Su Chen thought she had brought them for him, but Su Qingya just did a little spin in front of him before heading upstairs.
The sight made Su Chen grit his teeth.
’That little brat...’
Before Su Chen could even complain, he saw the nanny, Aunt Tang, walking over with a fruit platter.
"Mr. Su, the young miss specifically asked me to cut this for you. Please let me know if there’s anything you don’t like, and I’ll keep it in mind for next time."
Su Chen glanced at the platter on the table. It was filled with mostly his favorite fruits. ’Looks like that little brat Su Qingya has some conscience after all,’ he thought.
’Mm, a little... but not much!’
"I like all of these. Let’s just buy these from now on."
"Yes, Mr. Su!" Aunt Tang nodded and turned to leave.
"Wait a moment, Aunt Tang!" Su Chen called out, having thought of something.
"Mr. Su, are there any other instructions?" Tang Xiaomei looked at Su Chen, a bit fidgety.
Su Chen noticed her nervousness and said with a smile, "No need to be nervous, Aunt Tang. Please, have a seat."
Tang Xiaomei hesitated for a moment before sitting down on the sofa.
"Aunt Tang, I don’t think we’ve confirmed your salary yet, have we? What was your previous salary?"
"Mr. Su, that depends on the type of nanny you’re looking for."
’Are there really different types of nannies?’ Su Chen was a bit surprised.
But he understood that it was normal not to know, since he’d never had any experience with this profession.
"Hmm, tell me more."
"Of course, Mr. Su."
Tang Xiaomei organized her thoughts before speaking. "Nannies are generally divided into three common types: day-shift, live-in, and childcare. The main duties include cooking, cleaning, laundry, and so on."
"I was previously a live-in nanny. I worked for my last employer for five years, but I had to find a new job because the entire family moved abroad."
Tang Xiaomei paused here. After glancing at Su Chen’s calm expression, she bit her lip and said nervously, "My previous salary was 10,000 a month, but the market rate for a live-in nanny is typically between 6,000 and 8,000."
"Hmm." Su Chen nodded slightly.
Seeing this, Tang Xiaomei’s heart leaped into her throat. She was already prepared to take a pay cut.
’After all, it’s hard to find a job these days. Having a stable job would be good news for both me and my family.’
After a moment of silence, Su Chen looked at Tang Xiaomei. "Aunt Tang, your salary will stay the same: 10,000 a month, with a year-end bonus."
Hearing this, Tang Xiaomei shot to her feet.
"Thank you, Mr. Su! Thank you, Mr. Su!"
Su Chen waved his hand, signaling for her not to get so excited.
"You’ve been in this line of work for many years, so you should know what you should and shouldn’t do. I trust you’re a smart woman, Aunt Tang."
