Silicon Valley. Longteng Technology.
Mark, the president of Longteng Technology, was pacing back and forth in his office. A few of his senior executives stood by, looking like they wanted to say something but were holding back.
Mark suddenly stopped pacing and pointed at a female executive. "Aria, ask the people from BlackRock when they’ll be here!"
"Sir, I already called them. They’re on their way," Aria said, trying to soothe her rather impatient boss. "Besides, our major shareholder is still in the air. He won’t be landing for over an hour, so we have plenty of time."
"Sigh..." Mark sighed deeply. He couldn’t help but be anxious.
A business magnate had taken an interest in the company’s new technology, and Mark was thinking of selling his shares and retiring to a life of luxury in the Caribbean Sea.
But he wasn’t the major shareholder. He wanted to sell the company’s new technology and bypass the major shareholder, but the firm holding those shares was BlackRock—the largest asset management firm in the world, with investments in every industry imaginable.
Still, he was grateful that BlackRock was the one holding the shares. Otherwise, he would never have been able to withstand the pressure from the Morgan Conglomerate.
KNOCK KNOCK. The office door was suddenly knocked.
Just as Mark was about to call out, the door opened.
Mark’s brow furrowed. Just as he was about to curse whoever was being so rude, he saw several figures standing in the doorway. It was none other than the people from BlackRock, whom he had met several times during previous financing and acquisition negotiations.
"Mr. Bird, welcome!" Mark’s face immediately broke into a warm smile.
Although Bird was only a mid-level manager at BlackRock, the behemoth of BlackRock itself stood behind him.
Even with a net worth in the hundreds of millions, Mark didn’t dare raise his voice in front of Bird. A single casual remark from the man could make his life incredibly difficult.
"Mark, if there’s nothing else, we can head to the airport now," Bird said, glancing at his watch.
In truth, he was extremely curious about this major shareholder, Su Chen. Aside from knowing that he was from Huaxia and named Su Chen, they couldn’t find any other information about him—not even using BlackRock’s considerable resources.
This was all thanks to Su Chen’s foresight. He had hidden all information about his holdings. Unless you were looking into a specific corporation, finding any related information was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
"Let’s go. Mr. Bird, after you," Mark said, gesturing for Bird to lead the way.
A group of about ten people left Silicon Valley in a convoy of ten Mercedes S600s, attracting many curious glances along the way.
