Chapter 33: Chapter 33: What a Coincidence, Ball Sis

Grand Metropark Hotel!

"Yuchun, where are we going?"

Watching the elevator climb nonstop, Ni Ni couldn’t help but feel nervous.

Ni Ni’s career hadn’t been going well these past few years. Some recent negative press had nearly ended her career in show business.

Fortunately, she had met Li Yuchun on a variety show. Their personalities had clicked unexpectedly, and they quickly became good friends.

It was with Li Yuchun’s help that she had shaken off that negative press and gotten her career back on track.

The only reason Ni Ni was able to attend the Bazaar Charity Night this time was because she was riding on Li Yuchun’s coattails.

Soon, the elevator stopped on the 70th floor.

After the two of them stepped out of the elevator, Li Yuchun checked a room number and walked toward one of the doors.

"Presidential Suite 7007!"

After glancing at the suite number and confirming it was the right one, Li Yuchun knocked gently three times.

CLICK—

The door opened, and a woman in professional office attire poked her head out. It was Emma’s secretary!

"Miss Li, you’re here!" Secretary Li said with a smile.

"Yes. Are President Emma and the others here?" Li Yuchun asked calmly, not feeling the need to be overly deferential just because she was speaking to Emma’s secretary.

"The presidents are chatting with a distinguished guest!"

Hearing the words "distinguished guest," Li Yuchun stopped in her tracks and turned to ask Secretary Li, "Distinguished guest? Secretary Li, who might this guest be?"

Secretary Li just shook her head slightly, indicating that she wasn’t entirely sure either. Even though she had her suspicions, she had to keep them to herself.

After all, no one wants a secretary with a big mouth!

Seeing this, Li Yuchun’s expression grew serious. It seemed this distinguished guest’s identity was anything but simple.

Upon entering the living room, she saw four people sitting on the sofa. One of them, a young man, was busy eating with his head down, muttering a few words to himself now and then.

’This young man is the "distinguished guest" Secretary Li mentioned?’ Li Yuchun was utterly shocked.

Especially with Su Chen’s features—at first, she had assumed the guest would be a foreigner, not an authentic Huaxianese person.

That alone was enough to give her a lot to think about.

"Ah, finally full. Emma, it’s not that I’m picking on you, but if you’d told me earlier what the Bazaar Charity Night was like, you couldn’t have dragged me here even if you beat me to death!" Su Chen complained, wiping his mouth.

Just then, he caught sight of Li Yuchun standing in the doorway out of the corner of his eye.

"Good evening, President Emma, President George, President Hamis!" Li Yuchun said with a smile.

"Dear Li, you’re here! Come, sit!" Emma said with a smile, standing up to pull Li Yuchun down to sit beside her.

And that’s when Ni Ni, who was trailing behind her, appeared in Su Chen’s line of sight.

"Hey, Miss Charger! You’re here too!" Su Chen teased the somewhat reserved Ni Ni.

His gaze slid surreptitiously over the two ping-pong balls on her chest. ’They’re not big, but ping-pong balls are still balls!’

"It’s you?" Ni Ni looked at Su Chen, her face flushing slightly. She never would have thought she’d run into him here.

The group started chatting, their conversation drifting from the fashion world to the entertainment industry, with Su Chen listening with great interest from the side.

Before they knew it, it was already eleven o’clock.

Seeing that it was getting late, Li Yuchun announced their departure. After saying her goodbyes to Su Chen and the others, she left with Ni Ni.

"Emma, did you all have something you needed to discuss? And you were just too polite to bring it up with me here?" Su Chen asked, nodding his head toward the door.

Emma nodded sheepishly. "You saw right through us, Mr. Su. Earlier on the red carpet, Li approached me. She wanted me to give an endorsement deal to that girl, Ni Ni. I didn’t agree at the time."

"And the reason?"

"From what I understand, a movie she was in before had poor box office results. The investors and the director had a falling out, and she sided with the director. That angered the investors, who then leaked some provocative photos from when she was younger. They were the complete opposite of the ’pure maiden’ image she’d cultivated, so to avoid any risk..."

Su Chen understood what Emma meant. No one wants their brand ambassador to have negative press.

"Hmm, let’s keep an eye on her for now. If her reputation online improves, we can try giving her an endorsement deal."

"Understood, Mr. Su!" Emma said, signaling to her secretary at the side to make a note of it.

Su Chen yawned. Between the flight and the gala, he was already exhausted.

"It’s getting late. You all should head back and get some rest too."

Emma stood up and was about to leave when she remembered something and stopped. "Mr. Su, we’re planning to return to Shanghai tomorrow morning. I was wondering if you’ll be returning with us or staying in the Imperial Capital for a few more days."

"You guys go on back without me. Don’t worry about me. I plan on staying here for a couple of days to have some fun before I head back."

He’d finally made it to the Imperial Capital; how could he just leave? To come all the way here and not see the flag-raising ceremony or climb the Great Wall... what a waste that would be.
