"Why is it like that, though!" Arthur asked Su Chen, looking genuinely curious.
Su Chen immediately understood what Arthur was getting at. Instead of answering right away, he beckoned to Jiang Hui, who was standing nearby, and whispered a few instructions.
After Jiang Hui had left, Su Chen finally replied, "That’s perfectly normal. Any country’s cuisine has to be adapted to suit local tastes."
Arthur understood instantly. He realized those Cantonese restaurants must have seen he was a foreigner and adjusted the flavors to what they thought he would like.
Just like one of America’s most famous dishes, General Tso’s chicken, uses a sweet sauce, while in China, it’s made with green and red chili peppers. Naturally, the taste is completely different.
"Ahem... I wonder if I’ll be able to taste some authentic Cantonese food for lunch." Arthur showed no sign of embarrassment, looking rather expectant instead.
Su Chen shrugged helplessly and said with a smile, "It’s already been arranged. You can eat to your heart’s content at lunch!"
Thinking back to what had just happened, Arthur instantly understood. It seemed Su Chen had seen right through his subtle intentions from the very beginning.
After a sumptuous Cantonese lunch, Arthur, Su Chen, and their party set off for New York.
At the San Francisco airport, Su Chen got a look at Arthur’s private jet.
On the outside, it didn’t look much different from his own Yunmengze. But once he stepped aboard, he realized how mistaken he’d been.
The interior was a picture of opulence, glittering with gold everywhere. It could easily rival the planes of those oil tycoons in the Middle East.
Su Chen even made a point to ask about the interior decor. The answer he received was that nearly a ton of gold had been used, giving Su Chen a real taste of the sheer wealth of a top-tier global family.
The flight from San Francisco to New York covered over 4,600 kilometers, nearly half the distance of the flight from Shanghai. It took just over six hours to arrive in New York.
They had basically crossed the entire North American continent.
It was already 7:00 PM when they landed at the New York international airport, but on the access road by the private tarmac, two fleets of luxury cars were already waiting.
Beside each fleet stood burly men in black suits, all of them occasionally glancing at the opposing group.
Arthur noticed the situation as he stepped out of the cabin. He turned to Su Chen and asked, "Your people?"
Su Chen nodded calmly. "Yeah, Raymond arranged it."
