Typically, for big celebrations, you give relatives anywhere from two weeks to a month’s notice. If you wait until the last minute, people will just assume you didn’t want to invite them. I mean, why else would you only let them know right before the banquet?
Su Chen understood this, of course. "So... we’ll just have a small get-together with the immediate Su family?"
Chen Shufen nodded. "Mm-hmm, that’s the plan. I already called your third uncle. We’ll have him bring your grandpa and grandma to Wudu, and they can stay for a little vacation."
Hearing this, an idea struck Su Chen, and he immediately took charge of the banquet arrangements.
"Alright, leave the banquet to me. I’ll find a good restaurant tomorrow and book it!"
At this, a teasing smile spread across Chen Shufen’s face. She looked at Su Chen and said, "You’re a clever one, aren’t you? I see you’ve found a great way to get out of helping at the restaurant."
"Ahem! I’m just focusing on the big picture. Besides, it’s not like the restaurant can’t manage without me. Right, Mom?"
Her son’s words made Chen Shufen burst out laughing. He had found such a high-and-mighty excuse for not wanting to help at the restaurant.
......
The next day, Su Chen slept in so late the sun was already baking his behind before he finally, slowly, sat up in bed.
The last few days at the hot pot restaurant had worn him out completely. He’d gotten home last night, taken a shower, and collapsed right into bed.
’Ah, it’s so much better being a lazy bum at home!’ Su Chen stretched, then finally got out of bed and headed for the bathroom.
After a quick shower, he changed into a casual tracksuit, picked up his phone, and called Yin Zheng.
Since Su Chen wasn’t very familiar with Wudu, he needed to find someone who knew the city inside and out to help him find a suitable place for the banquet.
He had already ruled out the top-tier Michelin, Black Pearl, and private kitchens. It couldn’t be helped—their portions were just too small. If they held the banquet at a place like that... he was afraid no one would get enough to eat.
The call connected after just two rings.
"Hello? Young Master Su, good morning! What can I do for you?" Yin Zheng’s voice came through the moment the call connected.
His attitude was so formal it took Su Chen by surprise. ’Why is a great young master of Wudu speaking so humbly?’
"Enough with the formalities. Are you free today? I’m looking for a good restaurant, and since you know the city so well, I figured I’d call and get your advice."
Yin Zheng couldn’t have been more delighted to hear this. He quickly said, "Of course I’m free! Young Master Su, where are you now? I’ll come to you!"
