Leaving the menswear store, Su Chen couldn’t help but wince.
’Sheesh... The National Gold Center is really on another level. Some brand I’ve never even heard of, BC... Six outfits cost me 120,000 yuan. If I’d gone to one of those famous luxury stores, wouldn’t it have cost even more...’
’But then again, this polo shirt that costs several thousand yuan is definitely way better than my old clothes that only cost a few dozen!’
After that brief reflection, Su Chen made a beeline for the upper floors. His stomach had been growling for ages!
He found a Sichuan restaurant that seemed to be doing good business and casually ordered two of its signature dishes—twice-cooked pork and fish-fragrant shredded pork!
He had to admit... the cooking at this Sichuan restaurant was genuinely good. The fish-fragrant shredded pork, in particular, was made in the authentic Sichuan style.
It only had pickled chilies, ginger, garlic, and a sweet and sour sauce—none of that shredded carrot or bamboo shoot nonsense.
With just those two dishes, Su Chen polished off four full bowls of rice, prompting the waiter to give him a few extra glances.
When the bill came—holy crap...
Two hundred fifty-eight!
Before, this would have been enough for Su Chen to live on for a whole week.
As he was leaving the Sichuan restaurant, Su Chen caught a glimpse of his own thick head of hair in a glass pane. He stopped and ran a hand through it.
He looked it up on his phone and found a well-known hair design studio on the third floor of the National Gold Center.
"i HAIR!"
The moment he walked in, a young female receptionist hurried over to greet him.
"Hello, sir. Are you here for styling or a wash and massage?"
"Styling!"
Su Chen’s gaze swept across the room. He noticed i HAIR was doing quite well; there were hardly any empty seats.
"Sir, do you have a price range in mind? We have four options: 588, 888, 1288, and 1888!"
The receptionist went on to explain the differences between the price points. After a moment of thought, Su Chen said, "I’ll go with the 1888 one."
"This way, sir. We’ll start with a wash and massage!"
Like a robot, Su Chen lay down on the washing station as instructed by the receptionist.
’So comfortable...’
Su Chen had expected a simple hair wash, but to his surprise, the shampoo girl started giving him a massage right away.
And it wasn’t just a head massage; she massaged everything from his legs to his hands and then his head.
Interestingly, the shampoo girls here were all very young, around twenty-three or twenty-four, and every one of them had a curvy figure. You could say they were all beauties.
They were also dressed lightly, and from time to time, the shampoo girl would "accidentally" brush her chest against him, making Su Chen a little embarrassed.
But seeing the faint, practiced smile on her face, it seemed she was used to it. Su Chen understood... ’This is probably part of the service!’
After being washed and massaged for about an hour, Su Chen finally met his stylist.
He looked to be in his thirties, wearing a vest, and his first impression on Su Chen was one of professionalism.
"Hello, I’m Kevin, the chief stylist at i HAIR. Handsome, what kind of style are you looking for?"
Su Chen thought for a moment before saying, "Just design something based on my face shape!"
After all, in his memory... the only hairstyles he’d ever had were a buzz cut or a simple choppy cut.
Kevin held a comb and gestured around Su Chen’s head for a minute or two before deciding on a style.
After explaining it to Su Chen, he got to work.
The chief stylist lived up to his title. His movements were incredibly swift and precise. Su Chen watched in the mirror as his appearance gradually transformed.
Half an hour later, Su Chen found that he looked completely different.
If he looked a bit greasy and unkempt before... now he looked like a bright and cheerful young man!
"Sir, are you satisfied?" Kevin asked, his face full of confidence.
Su Chen looked at himself in the mirror and nodded with great satisfaction.
"Not bad. The chief stylist really lives up to his name. This skill is seriously nice."
Seeing Su Chen’s satisfaction, a glint appeared in Kevin’s eyes. He smiled and said, "Sir, do you live nearby?"
"Mhm, just nearby," Su Chen replied casually, tidying his new hair.
