Chapter 11 The Offer
Nira’s POV:
“What?”
Kade frowned, clearly confused as he looked at me.
I gave him a calm, light smile. “I’ll let you go if he stops yelling. We can talk this out.”

Kade didn’t seem bothered at all by the fact that he was still being held against his will. Even with a hint of weakness in his voice, his tone remained steady, almost authoritative.
“Alright.” he said.
I saw him agree and couldn’t help but smile big and wide. Then I released my grip on him without hesitation.
I sat cross–legged right next to him, not planning to move an inch. Jett stood stiffly nearby, his sharp wolf eyes locked on me with full alertness.
I rested my chin in one hand, tapping my cheek with a finger as I tilted my head toward Kade. A quick glance told me everything I needed to know.
“You called him back, didn’t you?”
I had been hiding under the covers earlier, and Kade must’ve given Jett some kind of signal. That’s why he came back.
Kade didn’t respond. He just gave me a side glance, the kind that made you feel seen through, yet you couldn’t tell what he was really thinking.
He coughed quietly before speaking, his voice even and low. “Miss Soren, you don’t even have a wolf. You broke into my room, held me hostage, and made threats. Aren’t you worried you might not make it out of here?”
Even though he was still a little weak, the authority in his voice didn’t fade. You couldn’t ignore it.
I didn’t take offense. I just blinked and smiled, “It wasn’t exactly my first choice.”
Jett scoffed and shot me a look of pure disdain. I didn’t bother wasting words either. “You’re poisoned,” I said directly. “And I can fix it.”

“Up until now, only three people have figured out that what Mr. Howell has isn’t some strange illness, but actual poisoning. Gotta say, that’s impressive.”
Jett stepped forward fast, eyes wide in disbelief. “Are you serious?” he asked, trying hard to keep his excitement in check, but failing.
I didn’t answer him. I turned to Kade, and sure enough, his eyes narrowed just slightly. There was a flicker of surprise in them, quickly buried beneath that unreadable calm.
He stared at me for a few seconds in silence before finally speaking, voice cool. “Miss Soren, words mean nothing. You think I’m just going to believe you?”
I reached out and tapped a finger against his lips. “I’m the one who brought you back just now, remember?”
There was still a faint trace of blood in the air. I was sure he could smell it too and remember what happened.
A small smirk crept onto my lips. “If I hadn’t used my blood to wake you up, you probably would’ve died in your sleep. Doesn’t that prove I’m serious?”
His eyes flickered. “You’re saying your blood saved me?”
“Of course not,” I said, rolling my eyes. “Whoever poisoned you didn’t use just one thing. It’s a cocktail of at least a dozen different toxins, and they’ve been building up in your system for a while. By now, they’ve completely shut down your wolf and started messing with your internal energy flow.”
I tilted my head slightly, eyes narrowing.
“Let me guess. Before you collapsed, you kept getting this weird, nerve–deep pain–like your whole body was short–circuiting. And at night, it got worse. Kept you up. Drove you insane.”
My words hit a nerve. Kade’s eyes narrowed, and for a split second, I could tell–those memories he’d been trying so hard to ignore came flooding back all at once.
He spoke under his breath, “At first, I thought it was just exhaustion from overwork. I didn’t think too much of it. But the pain kept getting worse, until I collapsed without warning.”
I nodded, picking up where he left off. “My blood only woke you temporarily. If you want a full cure, that’s going to take a lot more effort.”
I raised a brow. “So, how about we make a deal?”
