Chapter 121 Lines Drawn
Chapter 121 Lines Drawn
Kade’s POV:
I froze for a second, completely thrown off and not sure how to answer.
The truth was, I hadn’t even figured it out myself yet.
He watched me hesitate, then let out a low scoff, clearly unimpressed.

“Nira is my student now,” he said, his tone calm but carrying weight. “That makes her my responsibility, and don’t intend to let anyone with the wrong intentions get close to her.”
He didn’t look away as he continued, his voice steady but firm.
“She’s talented, more than most people realize, and that’s what matters. I don’t care whether she has a wolf or not, and I won’t tolerate anyone using that against her. Not around me, and not from you either.”
That surprised me more than I expected. He had only known her for a short time, yet the way he spoke made it clear he had already made up his mind about her.
I exhaled quietly and rubbed the back of my neck, a faint smile forming.
“You don’t need to worry about that,” I said. “No one’s going to disrespect my fiancée.”
Harrison’s expression shifted immediately, irritation flashing across his face.
“Your fiancée?” he shot back. “An engagement doesn’t mean anything if you don’t treat her right. If you mess this up, I’ll find her someone better myself.”
I was just about to respond when a voice called out from ahead, urgent and persistent.
“Hey, wait up, you still haven’t told me your name.”
Both of us turned toward the sound.
A teenage boy in athletic clothes was trailing behind Nira, trying to keep up with her as she walked, clearly not taking the hint that she wasn’t interested.
I hadn’t seen him in so long I almost didn’t recognize him, and I probably wouldn’t have if Odin hadn’t picked up on the familiar scent first. It was Gavin Gray, Harrison’s grandson.
Nira didn’t slow down or respond. If anything, she picked up her pace, clearly trying to shake him off, but Govin stayed right behind her, completely undeterred, his expression bright and curious.
Something tightened in my chest before I even processed it, and l’instinctively started forward, only to have Harrison stop me with a hand on my arm.

“Already getting impatient?” he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. “She’s not even eighteen yet. Give it a couple of years. Once she grows into herself, maybe even gets her wolf back, you think he’ll be the only one chasing after her?”
That didn’t help.
If anything, it made the feeling worse.
My hands tightened slightly as my gaze stayed fixed on them.
Up ahead, Gavin was still talking, refusing to give up.
“Hey, don’t be like that. I’m not a bad guy, I just want to get to know you.”
Nira ignored him completely.
Then she saw me.

The shift in her expression was immediate, and she changed direction without hesitation, heading straight toward
“Kade.”
Just hearing my name from her like that eased the tension in,my chest more than I expected.
I closed the distance in a few strides and stepped directly in front of her, blocking Gavin without even thinking as she moved behind me.
I met his eyes, letting the pressure in my gaze speak for itself.
“Gavin.”
He froze instantly and straightened, all that easy confidence disappearing.
“Mr. Howell,” he said quickly, his tone respectful,
Harrison stepped up beside me, clearly unimpressed.
“Gavin, what exactly do you think you’re doing?” he said sharply. “Nira is Kade’s fiancée and my student. By rights, you should be showing her proper respect.”
Gavin blinked, completely thrown off.
“Wait, she’s his fiancée? And your student?”
He looked at Nira again, disbelief written all over his face..
“Grandpa, you’ve got to be kidding me. I mean, yeah, she’s… she’s really pretty, but she doesn’t even have a wolf How is that even possible?”
