Lucas wore a neat blue suit and twisted his car key between his fingers, ready to head out.
He spotted me and curled his lips into a sneer.
“Well, look who it is. Miss Soren, born without a wolf spirit yet always putting on airs. Where have you been gallivanting all night long?”
I shot him a cold glance and ignored him, walking straight toward the mansion entrance.
Irritated by my indifference, he stepped quickly to block my path, his tone sharp with provocation.
“Cat got your tongue all of a sudden?
“Stop fooling yourself. Your engagement with Kade won’t last. You useless trash will be cast aside sooner or later. Do you truly fancy yourself the future supreme Luna?”
I halted my steps and slowly turned around. My eyes narrowed sharply as I fixed a stern stare on him. “Say that one more time.”
He flinched slightly under my imposing aura, but quickly straightened his back and let out a mocking laugh.
“I called you useless trash. What can you do about it? Do you honestly believe this engagement will lead you into the prestigious Howell household? Dream on.
“The Howells only agreed to the match when they thought Kade’s days were numbered. Now that he has fully recovered, as the primary heir to the Alpha King throne, he will never form a sacred bond with someone devoid of a wolf spirit like you.”
I had already felt frustrated from failing to uncover clues about my origin. His insulting words instantly stoked my anger.
I lunged forward and seized his wrist, twisting it hard.
A crisp crack echoed through the hall. Lucas dropped to his knees with a bloodcurdling scream, his face draining pale in an instant.
“How dare you lay hands on me!” Cold sweat rolled down his skin. His voice shook with disbelief.
“You have no wolf spirit at all, yet you possess such terrifying strength. Your reflexes even

outmatch mine. You must have taken forbidden stimulants!”
I looked down at him with undisguised disdain.
“A lazy good–for–nothing like you has no right to speak insolently to me.”

Evelyn rushed over upon hearing the commotion. She saw her youngest son kneeling on the ground with a dislocated wrist, and her expression darkened instantly.
She roared and shoved me aside, rushing to support Lucas. She bared her wolf eyes and glared at me furiously.
“Nira! Have you lost your mind? How could you hurt Lucas!”
I stood rooted in place and replied calmly, “He spoke rudely first. I merely taught him a proper lesson.”
“You insolent girl!” She trembled with rage and pointed straight at me.
“You are nothing but a low–ranking branch member with no wolf spirit. You have no business causing trouble in this manor!
“Guards! Seize her at once!”
Servants swarmed forward and surrounded me closely.
Yet the sharp battle gaze I inherited from my adoptive father held them back. None dared make the slightest reckless move.
At that moment, the elderly steward serving Agatha hurried over with a solemn face. “Mrs. Agatha Soren orders everyone to stand down.”
Evelyn’s face turned livid. She gestured toward the injured Lucas.
“Just look what she has done! She broke his wrist! She cannot stay under this roof any longer!
“I restrained myself and did not shift into wolf form to attack. Now you must give me a fair judgment.”
The steward glanced at Lucas‘ painful injury and frowned. He then turned toward me.
“Miss Soren, your actions are indeed excessive. Mrs. Agatha Soren cannot favor you blindly.”
I let out a cold huff. “So what punishment awaits me?”
The steward’s expression stiffened, and he spoke in a stern tone, “Mr. Lucas Soren will lose one
