“You know how he is.” The secretary looked helpless. “His status is special, and his temper is ever worse. We couldn’t stop him.”

I didn’t slow down or stop walking as I headed straight for my office.

The moment I pushed the door open, I saw Damian standing by the window. His back was facing the entrance.

Hearing the door, he turned around. His wolf eyes immediately appeared. Anger burned beneath them. “Kade.” His voice was cold. “You finally decided to show your face.”

I glanced at him indifferently. Then I walked to my desk and set the files down. “What do you want?” My tone stayed steady early

Damian strode across the room. Both hands slammed onto my desk. His eyes locked onto mine. “Where is Nira?”

I narrowed my eyes dangerously. My fists tightened, but I quickly regained control. Then looked up at him. “No comment.

The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly. Damian’s expression darkened. A cold laugh escaped him. “Kade, don’t play dumb. I investigated everything before I came. Three months ago, you were poisoned and rushed to the hospital. The very next day, you walked out alive.” His eyes sharpened. “But Nira disappeared.”

His voice became harsher. “What the hell did you do to her?”

I took a slow breath, trying to suppress it. Then looked at him evenly. “This is between her and me. You don’t get a say.”
