Nira’s POV.

Oscar suddenly raised a hand, as if an idea had just struck him. “Hold on–we should make sure they actually engage. Felix is a slippery old bastard; he might send scouts to check things out first.”
“Good point,” Kade replied after a moment’s thought, then turned to me. “Nira, can you get into the dock’s security system?”
“Already on it.” I pulled up the live camera feeds from the harbor. “I can feed them some… custom footage.”
I quickly wrote a script and hacked into the surveillance feeds, making sure Felix’s team would only see exactly what we wanted them to see.
“Perfect,” Kade said, his eyes narrowing. “Now let’s give Richard an extra nudge.”
He had me send orders to several of Richard’s personal guards, making it look like the commands came from Richard’s second–in- command. “Boss‘ orders–everyone carries live rounds for tonight’s operation at the docks.”
Soon enough, through the hacked camera feeds, we saw exactly what we’d hoped for.
Night settled in, and the port area grew quiet.
Richard’s convoy arrived right on schedule, a dozen or so guards visibly on edge.
“The fish took the bait,” Oscar murmured, eyes fixed on the screen.
Then a gunshot shattered the night’s silence.
Richard’s men returned fire immediately, bullets ricocheting between shipping containers.
“Is that… Felix’s crew actually showing up?” I zoomed in, surprised.
Kade let out a cold chuckle. “Looks like they came ready for a fight. We’ll just sit back and enjoy the show.”
Down at the docks, the exchange of gunfire intensified.
Richard was crouched behind an armored SUV, his face pale as he shouted into his phone. “Send backup! We’re wiping out the Voss crew tonight–no excuses!”
Meanwhile, Felix was screaming into his own device. “That bastard Richard! Throw everything you’ve got at them!”
The shootout raged for almost an hour, until police sirens echoed in the distance and both sides scrambled to pull out.
In the chaos, Richard and Felix stumbled right into each other’s path–and both instantly drew their guns.
Two shots rang out almost simultaneously.
Richard took a bullet to the shoulder, while Felix was hit in the abdomen–his men hastily dragged him away.
“Well, their feud is officially set in stone now,” Kade remarked, switching off the monitor. He turned to Oscar and me. “While they busy tearing each other apart, we find a way to reach out to the Hudson family.”

oscar frowned immediately. “Richard pinned Desmond’s kidnapping on us. There’s a statewide manhunt underway—the Hudsons have every available tracker searching for us to” He looked uneasy. “If we show our faces now, they’ll probably shoot us on sight as the supposed kidnappers.”
“What if I go?” I offered, glancing at Kade.
Looking exactly like Natalie, I figured the Hudsons wouldn’t shoot me without a second thought
Kade clearly caught my meaning, but he still didn’t seem comfortable with the idea. “No. We don’t know what the Hudsons! current situation is. I’m not letting you go in alone.”
Oscar cut in, sounding annoyed. “Hey, I’m part of this team too. Would it kill you to clue me in on your plans?”
Kade shot him a look. “You’ll be the one to contact the Hudson family,”
“Me?” Oscar jumped to his feet. “I’d be dead before I even got within fifty feet of them.”
Kade gave him a knowing smirk. “Remember three years ago, when you saved Ms. Kayla Hudson?”
Oscar blinked. “That was just a small favor–I’d almost forgotten about it…”
Curious, I asked, “You know Ms. Hudson?”
“Know her?” Kade nodded with exaggerated seriousness. “He played the hero and rescued her.”
When Oscar noticed me looking at him, his face flushed bright red. “I–it was just coincidence–I ran into some stray wolves harassing her…”
