Back in my room, I picked up my phone and dialed the number without hesitation. When the line connected, my voice came out cool and controlled. “Stick to the plan. Keep everything moving forward.”
This wasn’t something I intended to rush.
A proper reckoning had to unfold slowly, piece by piece, until everyone who had ever hurt me was forced to pay the price.
Third–Person POV:
The following morning, a single comment began gaining traction online.
The user claimed to live near the scene of the incident and stated that on the night it happened, they had seen a luxury car speeding away.
Within minutes, the replies started piling up
[Seriously? You expect people to believe that?]
[Got any proof? Pictures or something?]
[Or are you just chasing attention?]
Doubt spread quickly, but the original poster offered no response at all.
They vanished completely.
That silence, rather than killing the conversation, only fueled it. The comment continued climbing, drawing more attention as speculation grew.
Nolan’s team noticed it almost immediately.
His manager reacted first, barely able to hide the urgency in his voice. “We need to get this under control, now. Release a statement. Make it clear we have nothing to do with this. And if anyone keeps spreading rumors, we take legal action. Be firm
about it.”
As expected, once the statement was released, the suspicion surrounding Nolan dropped off sharply.
The pressure eased, and Nolan finally felt like he could breathe again.
But he didn’t stop there.
He handed his manager several pieces of insider gossip about other celebrities, scandals he knew firsthand, and had them leaked deliberately.
The effect was immediate.
Fresh headlines flooded social media, pulling public attention in a completely different direction.

The old case, involving the mixed–blood wolf who had been beaten to death outside a bar years ago, quickly lost its momentum.
Watching the situation settle, Nolan became convinced he had successfully distanced himself from the storm.
And with that, his guard slipped.
Nira’s POV:
It didn’t take more than a glance at the trending stories for me to understand exactly what Nolan was doing.
So this was his strategy… shifting attention with bigger scandals.
A faint, cold smile touched my lips.
If that was the best he could come up with, then he was even less of a threat than I thought.
I wasn’t in a hurry.
Once he fully relaxed, I would make sure the next blow landed where it hurt most.
While keeping an eye on the situation, I was also counting the days until Kade’s next detox session.
I hadn’t expected him to reach out first.
Not only that, he had sent a car to pick me up.
As the car moved steadily along, I glanced out the window, only to realize something was off.
This wasn’t the route to the Howell estate.
My expression sharpened instantly as Lyra stirred within me, slipping into a guarded state, and I turned my gaze toward Jett.
He seemed to anticipate my
reaction.
“Miss Soren,” Jett explained calmly, “Mr. Howell was concerned that the main residence might be too crowded. Too many people, too many variables. He didn’t want anything interfering with your treatment, so he arranged for you to come to one of his private properties instead.”
His explanation reminded me of that night at Eastspire Hall, when I had told Kade we should avoid being seen together too often in public.
He had remembered. And more importantly, he had respected it.
“I understand,” I said with a small nod.
The car continued for a while longer before finally coming to a smooth stop in front of a sprawling estate.
The surrounding greenery was dense and carefully maintained, giving the entire place a quiet, refined atmosphere.
Kade was already standing at the entrance.
Tall and composed, his presence carried a natural weight that was impossible to ignore.

As soon as I stepped out of the car, he walked toward me.
“Miss Soren,” he said, his voice low and even, “thank you for coming.”
I lifted my gaze to meet his. “No need. This is a transaction, after all.”
Without another word, I followed him inside.

He led me into a room that had been arranged like a fully equipped medical suite. Every instrument was in place, organized with precise attention to detail.
“Take a look,” Kade said. “If anything’s missing, let Jett know.”
I scanned the room before giving a slight nod. “Everything looks complete. I’ll let him know if I need anything.”
Kade gestured toward a row of cabinets along the wall. “The materials from Blackstone Institute are stored there. Some of the rarer ones are still being sourced and will be delivered later.”
“That’s fine.” I stepped closer, opening one of the drawers and examining its contents. “The quality is excellent.”
“Blackstone Institute is the largest supplier of medical materials in the pack alliance,” Kade said, casually checking another drawer. “Their reliability isn’t in question.”
I gave a faint smile.
I was well aware of just how powerful Blackstone really was.
But that was tied to another part of my identity, one I had no intention of revealing.
“Alright,” I said, shifting the focus. “Let’s begin with a preliminary check.”
Kade nodded and took a seat across from me.
I centered myself, drawing on Lyra’s energy, and placed my fingers lightly against his wrist, focusing on the flow within his body.
After a moment, I withdrew my
hand.
“The last treatment worked,” I said. “Your condition is stable for now. But the toxins are still deeply rooted. We’ll need to increase the intensity of the medication, and the treatment will have to continue.”
“Understood,” Kade replied as he stood.
Then, without hesitation, he began unbuttoning his shirt.
For a brief moment, I didn’t react.
His fingers moved with effortless precision, undoing each button in a smooth, unhurried motion. The clean lines of his arms shifted subtly as he moved, the faint definition of muscle and vein catching the light.
Before I realized it, my gaze had settled on him.
The second button came undone, followed by the third, revealing the firm, sculpted lines of his chest.
There was nothing exaggerated about it, only a quiet, undeniable strength.

He turned slightly, finishing the rest in one continuous motion as the shirt slipped from his shoulders.
My breath caught for a fraction of a second.
I blinked and quickly turned my head, reaching for the tools in my kit as if I had simply been occupied all along.
Fortunately, Kade didn’t comment. He removed the rest of his clothing and lay down on the treatment bed, waiting.
I took a slow breath, forcing Lyra’s restless energy back under control, then carried the sterilized instruments over.

His gaze lingered on me, steady and unreadable. I ignored it completely, focusing on my work as I began placing the needles.
One after another, each inserted with precision.
As the treatment progressed, a fine layer of sweat formed across his forehead.
These needles carried Lyra’s energy. Even one would be enough to overwhelm an ordinary wolf.
I knew exactly how intense the pain must have been, yet Kade remained silent, not a single sound escaping him. That kind of control was exactly what you’d expect from someone raised to become an alpha king.
The procedure continued.
Sweat gathered and rolled down from his temples, soaking into the sheets beneath him.
