Chapter 43 Losing Control

He was close, so close that I could finally pick up the faint trace of his natural scent, something clean and cool that cut straight through the heat building inside me.
Lyra was restless, pacing inside my chest, stirring up something wild and unfamiliar that made my pulse spike. A flicker of panic rose in me, and I quickly lifted my hand, intending to push him away.
But the moment my arm touched his shoulder, everything shifted.
Instead of pushing him back, I found myself pulling him closer, instinctively leaning into him as if his presence alone could ease the sudden, unbearable heat surging through my body.
Kade’s POV:
The hovement caught me completely off guard.
Before I could react, she dragged me down with her, and suddenly our bodies were pressed tightly together.
Her hands were burning hot, slipping under my shirt without hesitation, trailing across my skin in a way that made my muscles tense instantly.
At the same time, she pressed herself into me, tugging at my collar until it came loose, then buried her face against my chest, rubbing against me like she was chasing relief.
For a split second, I was stunned.
Then I realized something was very wrong.
Her skin was too hot, her eyes unfocused, her breathing uneven, each inhale laced with a faint, unsteady softness that didn’t belong.
I leaned in slightly, catching her scent more carefully.
Odin’s voice came through almost immediately.
She’d been drugged.
Just as I was trying to figure out what to do, she pressed her cheek against my neck, her voice low and hazy. “You’re so cool… feels so good…”
Her breath brushed against my ear, warm and uneven, and I felt my own control start to slip.
I forced myself to stay focused, raising my hand, ready to knock her out before things went any further.
But she caught my wrist.
Still clinging to me, she murmured, barely coherent, “Just let me hold you… just for a minute…”

Chapter 43 Losing Control
There was noise outside the door, voices rising in the hallway, but I ignored it completely.
Right now, she was the only thing that mattered.
i wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her off the bed.

She didn’t settle down. If anything, she clung tighter, her arms locked around my neck, her legs wrapped around my waist, her body shifting restlessly against mine.
A sharp wave of irritation hit me.
Part of it was concern for her condition. The other part was the fact that she was crossing boundaries no one had ever dared to cross with me.
No one touched me like this.
The moment I stepped into the bathroom, I turned the faucet all the way to cold.
Then I pulled her off me, ignoring the way she tried to hold on, and lowered her straight into the tub.
Cold water soaked through her clothes instantly.
She shivered, her body reacting, and her eyes cleared just slightly.
“Kade…” she called softly, still a little dazed, her voice carrying a lingering softness that hadn’t fully faded.
I crouched down and steadied her by the shoulders. “Stay in the water.”
She didn’t argue this time, just leaned back against the tub, her breathing gradually evening out.
Nira’s POV:
I didn’t know how long I stayed in the cold water, but eventually the heat faded, and my thoughts became clear again.
I stood up from the tub, my soaked clothes clinging to me, outlining every curve.
Kade turned away immediately.
He reached for a towel from the rack and held it out to me without looking. “Wrap up. You’ll get sick.”
His voice sounded slightly strained, and he made no attempt to meet my eyes.
I wrapped the towel around myself, and only then did I notice his shirt.
Several buttons had come undone, the fabric hanging loosely, exposing his chest, where faint red marks stood out against his skin.
I froze. Those marks… were mine.
The memory hit me all at once, and heat rushed to my ears. For a moment, I almost thought the effects hadn’t fully worn off.
I cleared my throat awkwardly and rubbed my nose. “Sorry about that.”
