Chapter 47 Fault Lines
Nira’s POV:

Damon had already convinced himself that something had happened between me and Kade, and now he was trying to turn that assumption into leverage.
“Without the Soren estate backing you, Kade won’t marry you,” he said, his voice taking on that calculated patience he always used wher he thought he was being reasonable. “Just listen to me. I’m your father. I’m doing this for your own good.”
A sharp tremor ran through me, anger tightening every muscle in my body.
If I let Lyra take control right now, I would tear his throat out without a second thought.
I had no intention of getting involved in anything related to the Howell family, and even less interest in letting the Sorens drag Kade into their mess.
“You really think Kade is someone you can manipulate?” I let out a quiet, scornful laugh, my gaze sweeping over them. “After everything that’s happened, you still haven’t figured out what kind of people end up going against him?”
Kade had never been merciful, and he certainly wasn’t harmless. He was exactly what a first–in–line alpha king heir was supposed to be, decisive, ruthless, and utterly unforgiving.
He had been helping his father oversee the entire pack alliance at an age when most people were still sheltered, and long before that, he had already led forces into real combat against the witches. Those weren’t symbolic victories or controlled operations, they were brutal confrontations that left no room for hesitation.
Anyone who tried to scheme against him didn’t just fail, they were erased.
Damon knew that.
I lifted my eyes to him and watched as he murmured under his breath, “Kade…” A flicker of fear passed through his expression before he could hide it.
Exactly what I expected.
The Soren estate might be under pressure, but it hadn’t reached the point of collapse. Damon wasn’t the kind of man who would risk everything on a desperate gamble.
“Dad, something’s wrong!”
Eli rushed in, his composure completely gone. “Nolan’s been officially detained. High–level enforcement signed off on it.”
Jenna shot up from the couch, panic flooding her face. “What do you mean detained? Wasn’t he just cooperating with the investigation? How did it turn into this?”
Damon reacted immediately, his voice sharp. “Did they find new evidence?”
Eli’s expression darkened. “The man who confessed for Nolan recanted. He changed his statement in prison.”
“What?”
Damon and Jenna spoke at the same time, their faces draining of color.

Jenna collapsed back onto the couch as if all strength had left her body, her eyes unfocused as she muttered, “It’s over… it’s all
over…”
“Where’s Aven?” Damon pressed, his voice tightening despite himself. “Didn’t he go speak with that family? Why would they suddenly take it back?”
“He went to the station to see Nolan,” Eli said, his voice unsteady. “He told me to come back and tell you to be ready.”
Damon fell silent.
His expression shifted, his wolf eyes sharpening as his fists slowly clenched, and for a long moment, he didn’t say a word.
I hadn’t expected Aven to move so decisively, cutting off his own brother without hesitation to preserve the family’s position.
“Damon, what are we supposed to do? Say something!” Jenna grabbed his arm, her voice breaking under the pressure.
He slowly lifted his head, his expression settling into an unnatural calm. “Stay out of this. I’ll handle it.”
Without another word, he turned and walked out.
Jenna stared after him for a second before breaking down completely. “Damon, that’s your son!”
Eli immediately pulled her into his arms, trying to steady her as she sobbed.
I didn’t stay to watch the rest of it. There was nothing here I needed to see.
Instead, I turned my attention to something far more important. Contacting Vera, and the people from Silvermoon Pack.
And planning what came next.
Over the following days, everything unfolded exactly as I had anticipated.
Nolan was formally charged with intentional assault resulting in death, as well as fleeing the scene and obstructing justice.
The news spread fast, and the public reaction was immediate.
Fans who had once idolized him began to pull away, disappointment turning into open criticism almost overnight.
Brands moved even faster, cutting ties one after another to avoid being dragged into the fallout.
His schedule, once packed with endorsements and appearances, cleared out completely within days. Productions that had once been eager to feature him scrambled to edit him out wherever possible.
In a matter of days, Nolan’s career collapsed.
In an effort to preserve his position as alpha of Blazeborn Pack and protect the Soren name, Damon personally held a press
conference.
He stood behind the microphone, his posture rigid, a faint tremor running through him before he bowed deeply and remained there for several long seconds.
When he finally straightened, his eyes were red, his voice hoarse with restrained emotion.
