Chapter 81 No Way Out
Nira’s POV:
The second Damon heard my answer, the fake politeness dropped right off his face.
His wolf eyes sharpened as he stared me down, his voice turning cold and threatening.

“You really want to do this the hard way, Nira? Help us, or you can forget about going back to school. I’ve got more than enough ways to make sure you don’t walk out of this house again.”
I let out a short laugh and looked at him like he was a joke.
“I don’t doubt that for a second,” I said evenly. “You are the alpha of Blazeborn Pack. And it’s not like I haven’t seen how far you’re willing to go.”
A few years ago, he and the rest of the family had no problem throwing me in prison after I lost my wolf.
That told me everything I needed to know about how much he cared about me, his own daughter who had grown up away from this family and came back broken.
But this time?
I wasn’t the same person anymore.
Damon’s expression darkened.
“Reese, take her upstairs. Lock her in the attic. No food, no water. Let’s see how long that attitude lasts.”
Reese nodded immediately and waved a few guards over. They closed in around me, ready to grab me.
“Everybody stop.”
The voice cut through the room, sharp and commanding.
We all turned toward the door.
Agatha Soren, the matriarch of the Soren family, stood there, leaning lightly on her cane, posture straight, presence overwhelming. Several guards stood behind her, their faces unreadable.
Damon froze for a split second before stepping forward with a strained smile.
“Agatha, what are you doing here?”
She didn’t even bother answering him. She walked straight in, her gaze sweeping across the room before landing on me.
Her eyes softened, just slightly.
“So this is Nira. You’ve been through a lot, haven’t you?”
Damon looked stunned, glancing between us like he couldn’t process what he was hearing.
Honestly, I couldn’t either.

The main Soren family never moved without a reason. They were the definition of calculated.
And Agatha had never liked Damon’s branch. Every family gathering, she barely acknowledged them.
So why now?
My eyes flicked to the guards behind her, trying to read something, anything. Nothing.
I looked back at her, keeping my face neutral.
“Agatha.”
She took my hand before I could pull away, smiling warmly.
“We’re family. Don’t call me that. Call me Grandma.”
Her tone sounded affectionate, but there was something distant in her eyes that didn’t match.
I gave a small, polite smile. “Grandma.”
Her face lit up instantly. “That’s my girl.”
The rest of the room went completely silent. Janice’s stare practically burned into me, full of jealousy. I ignored her and kept my attention on Agatha.
She turned to Damon, her expression hardening immediately.
“Damon, is this how you treat your daughter? You’d push your own blood this far over an adopted girl? Have you lost your mind?” Damon opened his mouth, but she didn’t give him the chance.
“When you brought Nira back, I thought you’d finally do the right thing. Instead, you let Janice walk all over her, and now you’re starving her and locking her up?”
Her cane hit the floor with a sharp crack. “What kind of father does that?”
She didn’t stop there.
