Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Skyla sat in the wheelchair and pulled her scarf tighter around her neck. “Make some soup tomorrow morning. I’ll take it to my uncle.”

“Yes, Ms. Jasper,” the caregiver replied, pushing the wheelchair toward the house.

“Skyla Jasper!”

A sharp, urgent and angry voice suddenly cut through the air behind them.

The driver, clearly a bodyguard, spun around at the sound of hurried footsteps and moved to shield the

wheelchair.

Because of that, Skyla did not see the person clearly at first. But she recognized the voice immediately.

“Let her through. She’s my friend,” Skyla said calmly.

The bodyguard stepped aside. At once, Skyla saw Winter standing there, her eyes red, her body caught in

the cold wind.

Skyla lowered her gaze slightly.

Once, she had cared deeply about Winter. She couldn’t bear to see her cry or suffer. If anyone dared to upset Winter back then, Skyla would never have let it go.

But Winter had fallen for Chris.

And Skyla hated anyone who loved Chris.

Especially Winter.

“Winter, what are you doing here?” Skyla asked, without a trace of surprise.

She lifted a hand and gestured for the caregiver to turn the wheelchair so she could face her.

The cold wind whipped through Winter’s hair. She clenched her numb, icy fingers and stared at the person in front of her, disbelief flooding her face. Her legs felt as heavy as lead, refusing to move.

“Why are you living here?” Winter demanded.

She never could have imagined that the person living here would be Skyla.

No wonder Steve had mocked her, calling her generous for tolerating Chris putting Skyla in that place.

Now it seemed that Winter herself had become a joke to everyone who knew the truth.

She had never taken Steve’s words seriously,

First, because she didn’t want to fall into his trap. He wanted her to break things off with Chris so he could swoop in. Second, she refused to become a hysterical, bitter wife who spent her days digging through her husband’s private affairs.

After all, the person Chris loved was Skyla. No matter how much he did for her, it wouldn’t have surprised Winter. There was no need to dwell on it. Fixating on it would only make things harder on

herself.

She had even thought that if Chris arranged for Skyla to live in Blackwood Manor, she wouldn’t be

shocked.

But she never expected this.

This place was her former home.

Facing Winter’s accusation, Skyla spoke with a gentle smile in her voice. “The environment here is good. It’s suitable for recovery. Chris said my health comes first.”

“There are so many places in Liono City that are good for recovery,” Winter snapped. “Why did it have to

be here?”

The caregiver spoke sharply. “Ms. Scott, where Ms. Jasper lives is her personal choice. You have no right to interfere. You came here so late at night. Aren’t you afraid I will tell Mr. Xander?”

“Shut up!” Winter snapped.
