**TITLE: She Bloomed Like Spring After Surviving a Winter No One Saw by Lillian Rosewood**
**Chapter 60: The Silver Captain**
Typically, the palace guards were a steadfast presence, rarely leaving the castle grounds without a compelling reason. Their departure often signaled that something was amiss, a prelude to trouble lurking just beyond the castle walls.
As Alden strode confidently toward them, a flicker of uncertainty crossed his mind. *These guards aren’t here to cause me trouble, are they?* He chuckled inwardly, *If they are… perfect. I’ve been itching for some solid foes to bolster my HP!*
His thoughts drifted back to the cryptic letter he had uncovered earlier at Darkwind Fort. The parchment hinted at the fort’s dealings with a powerful figure in Astralon, and now, with the palace guards arriving on the scene, it seemed they were here to investigate those very ties.
“You criminal!” the guard captain bellowed, his voice echoing off the castle walls. “You’ve brought nothing but suffering and pain to the innocent! I am here on royal decree to bring you to justice. Surrender now, and save yourself from further agony!”
*I knew it!* Alden’s heart raced as the captain’s words confirmed his suspicions, igniting a fire within him.
“A royal decree? And whose decree would that be?” Alden shot back, his tone laced with sarcasm.
“That’s of no concern to you,” the Silver captain replied dismissively, a cold snort escaping his lips. “Your best option is to surrender—now.”
“Surrender?” Alden scoffed, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “Go ahead, try it. If you dare lay a hand on me, I’ll make sure every last one of you regrets it.”
The Silver captain’s expression darkened, his brows knitting together in irritation. In a swift motion, he thrust his long spear forward, aiming directly for Alden’s throat.
Alden reacted with instinctive agility, shifting his body just enough for the spear to graze his shoulder instead.
-54,982!
A massive damage notification flared above his head, a testament to the captain’s formidable strength. At level 50, even a Silver guard—let alone a captain—was a force to be reckoned with, rivaling the might of Silver-level bosses.
Ding! “You have been attacked maliciously. You may retaliate normally.”
Alden’s lips curled into a grin. This was precisely the confrontation he had been anticipating.
With a swift motion, he stepped back and unleashed a barrage of feathered arrows.
“Get him, boys!” he called out, rallying his own spirit.
But the Silver captain was no fool. He had been given clear instructions from the Queen: this mission must succeed at all costs. Failure was not an option. The palace guards, trained for coordination, thrived in teamwork rather than solitary skirmishes.
As if on cue, twenty Bronze guards closed in, surrounding Alden like a tightening noose.
Without hesitation, Alden activated his Quintuple Shot, retreating at full speed. With a movement speed exceeding 14, he was a blur, darting away from their grasp.
“Dragon Bind Spear!” the Silver captain shouted, and in unison, the guards hurled their long spears toward him.
Alden dodged nimbly, but he quickly realized their intent was not to strike him down directly. Instead, they were strategically blocking his escape routes, each spear angled to perfection. One misstep could lead to his legs becoming ensnared.
“Trying to trap me like this? Dream on,” he muttered defiantly.
With a powerful kick, he sent one of the spears flying aside, leaping into the air and spinning to unleash another barrage of Quintuple Shots.
“Daring to jump in front of me, huh? What an idiot,” the Silver captain sneered, his eyes glinting with cold determination.
In a heartbeat, he positioned himself beneath Alden, thrusting his spear upward with deadly precision. The spear, glinting ominously, scraped against Alden’s armor as he executed a flawless 360-degree flip in midair.
Alden landed gracefully, immediately firing off another volley of arrows.

The Silver captain deftly deflected one arrow with his spear but lunged forward again, his weapon crackling with energy as he channeled the Tiger Phantom’s roar.
Alden’s heart raced as he poured all 100 of his Attribute Points into movement speed, firing off another Quintuple Shot. Each point boosted his speed by 0.05, and with a hundred points, he gained a significant edge.
His expression tightened as he realized he had to act quickly. Normally, he would have been unable to dodge such an attack, but he wore the Purifying Pendant, granting him an impressive 80% immunity to knockback effects.
He hovered momentarily in midair before landing safely, the claws missing him entirely.
The Silver captain hesitated for just a heartbeat, allowing Alden to create a critical distance between them.
With a fierce determination, the captain leaped, his spear glinting ominously. In a flash, a spear beam shot toward Alden.
He dodged at the last possible moment, but the speed was so intense that it still grazed him.
Bam!
Alden felt the impact as his left shoulder pauldron shattered instantly, the durability maxed out and now rendered useless.
His expression darkened. His Galeborn gear set had fit him like a glove, yet now one vital piece lay in ruins.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!!
Arrows sliced through the air with deadly precision.
Alden briefly contemplated using the Book of Life and Death to turn the tide in his favor, but he quickly dismissed the thought. He needed this fight to farm HP. Using the book now would squander the perfect opportunity.
High-stakes battles sharpened his combat skills, and even if he faltered, he could always return to the Revival Altar. But after the great catastrophe, one misstep could lead to total annihilation.
“Dragonbind!”
The Silver captain roared once more, and the Bronze guards adjusted their tactics yet again.
