Alden had devised a straightforward yet crucial strategy—whenever he encountered the ominous god aura, he would promptly retreat to the safety of the village and seek assistance.

Surely, there had to be someone among the villagers capable of countering this formidable force.

If no one could help, then this “Hell Level” aura would render the dungeon an insurmountable challenge. Alden was acutely aware that if he couldn’t withstand its pressure, no other player would stand a chance, particularly not before undergoing a second class change. Even those endowed with God-Level talents would find themselves struggling in such an environment.

This realization crystallized into a singular truth: anything that could diminish the god aura’s potency was of utmost importance to the entire village. It had to be the most coveted hidden treasure of Rookie Village.

As he pondered this, Alden’s eyes fell upon Isaac.

Isaac was a towering figure, easily surpassing six feet, with a robust build that belied his fifty-something years. His hair bore streaks of gray, and his beard flowed long and full, giving him an appearance more befitting a village chief than a physician.

“Dr. Reed,” Evie began, her voice steady yet urgent, “this adventurer has been instrumental in our fight against the Ice Werewolves. He wishes to delve deeper into the icy realms, but the snow monsters heal far too rapidly in the frigid fields. He’s hoping you might know a way to hinder that healing process.”

Isaac scrutinized Alden for a lingering moment, his expression inscrutable. Finally, he spoke, “You’ve exhibited more bravery than I anticipated. However, I remain unconvinced that you can handle those accursed snow monsters. Unless…”

He paused, a glimmer of contemplation crossing his features, before continuing, “Unless you manage to eliminate several Ice Serpents first. I will reward you based on the number you bring down.”

Ding! A notification chimed in Alden’s mind: “Dr. Reed has given you a quest. Accept?”

“Quest Objective: Kill as many Ice Serpents as possible.”

“Penalty: None.”

“Reward: One Serious Injury Potion for each Ice Serpent killed.”

Alden’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. This was intriguing indeed.

It meant he didn’t have to wipe out every serpent before retreating. In other words, he could pick his battles and avoid a fight to the death with the Ice Serpents.

If that were the case, then these serpents likely had an aggro range—similar to the radius of the god aura.

The pressing question loomed: if he stepped outside the aura’s reach, would the Ice Serpents cease their pursuit?

Judging by the circumstances, the odds seemed favorable.

“Alright,” Alden affirmed, determination settling in his voice. “You have my word. I’ll take down as many Ice Serpents as I can.”

With that, he departed.

This time, having gleaned valuable insights from previous encounters, Alden made sure to consume every dish that enhanced his attack speed before venturing out. The outcome was a delightful boost of +1 to attack speed and +6 to movement speed—impressive enhancements by any measure.

Before long, he found himself standing before the same snow-laden monument as before.

This was the boundary where the Ancient Eastern Empire came to an end.

Alden didn’t linger over it, simply stepping over the stone and pressing onward.

Then, the god aura descended, heavy and oppressive.

He didn’t hesitate, not until the first Ice Serpent slithered into view.

As he fought while retreating, he tested his hypothesis. The moment he crossed back over the monument’s threshold, the suffocating aura dissipated—and so did the serpent.

“So I was right,” he murmured, a sense of vindication washing over him.

The Ice Serpents must possess a reset mechanic. Step outside, and everything within resets.

This included the HP stacking he had accrued. The extra HP gained from attacking the serpent vanished the instant he stepped beyond the boundary.

The Ice Serpents—monsters with identical names—could still be locked onto with the book. As long as he had visual contact, he could mark it and drain its BP continuously.

Even with his stats halved, he was still dishing out over 23,000 damage per second. The flat 10,000 from the book’s effect remained unaffected by the aura.

He maintained the pressure—launch, juggle, keep the damage flowing.

The extra HP he had accumulated from battling the Ice Werewolves made each basic attack hit for approximately 40,000. At a rate of three attacks per second, that translated to a staggering total of 120,000 from basic hits, plus 23,000 from the book, culminating in an impressive 143,000 DPS.

In just one minute, that amounted to 8.58 million in damage. During a full juggle lock of four minutes, he could inflict over 30 million.

Even considering the serpent’s ultimate healing skill, Alden could dispatch one in five minutes.

The sheer power was terrifying.

Previously, it took him a grueling 40 minutes to defeat a single serpent. Now, that time had been slashed to one-eighth.

And in reality, it was even quicker. Four and a half minutes in, the serpent was on the brink of defeat.

That’s when a mischievous idea struck him.

Instead of delivering the final blow, he allowed it to collapse to the ground. It was time to farm some HP.

Every second of contact yielded him nine HP. That was 540 HP per minute.

He had no idea what lay deeper within the dungeon, but one thing was certain—the higher his HP stacked, the better his chances of survival.

When the second Ice Serpent appeared, Alden felt a frown tugging at his brow.

The seven hours of high-intensity Quintuple Shot earlier had taken a toll on him. His mental energy was waning.

Even executing a Double Arrow Shot now felt like an uphill battle.

He had no choice—finish off the first serpent, then shift his focus to the second.
