Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1626

Chapter 1626 Losers' Bracket

Sylas turned to face the projection that loomed high in the skies, his gaze calm despite the sheer amount of attention he was receiving.

He could feel that while most of the gazes were leveled in awe and shock, there was a substantial portion of them steeped in something else entirely.

There was anger, rage-a deep desire to kill aimed toward him.

In a sea of people with such powerful Wills, one could imagine just how much pressure that would put on a single F-tier like Sylas. If not for certain divisions, even Sylas' Will would show signs of collapsing at this moment.

And yet, it was under these circumstances that Elbrum chose to elevate them to the same level as the top three Sanctums.

If it was just about rearranging them in the order they finished in, the 004 Sanctum, which finished second, would also be raised to this level, while the 002, 003, and 001 Sanctums would all be knocked down, as not a single one of them finished in the top three like they usually did.

However, that didn't happen.

"I have to say that I have never been so thoroughly impressed by an F-tier. While I cannot promise you top-three treatment into the next tiers, I can give your Sanctum the benefit of partaking in the energy recovery stratus of this level nonetheless. Consider it a token of my appreciation of your talent."

Sylas nodded calmly. "Thank you."

The others around Sylas blinked, not expecting him to say such words. But it was also clear they had too little understanding of Sylas.

While extremely confident in himself, Sylas wasn't a fool. When it was time to be under the Grimblade's control, he had accepted it without much pushback. What exactly would be the point in refuting Elbrum at this point?

It would be at that point that Pride would become a Sin. Not only would it not help him, it would harm all those around him, making it near impossible to achieve what he wanted.

Even Elbrum seemed surprised by Sylas' reply, but in the end he just smiled, his gaze flickering.

He immediately elevated Sylas' place in his heart by not just a single level, but several.

There was no doubt about it. This Sylas was extremely dangerous.

"In that case, we will move on to the E-tier." Elbrum grinned from ear to ear. "The task will be just the same, nothing has changed. Prove your right to earn your right to prove yourself."

Sylas' expression didn't change at all when he heard this. Instead, he took a seat and closed his eyes.

Large amounts of Aether began to surge toward him, so thick they formed plumes.

They divided into two lines, entering his body in torrents. His healing factor seemed to have been injected with steroids.

It was much harder for him to heal now because the standards of his body were so much higher. But Sylas had managed to compensate with the sheer quality of his Genes.

"I don't think he needs your help at all. I think he's already proven that."

"Not necessarily," the Emperor Lizard suddenly spoke, his gaze more focused on Sylas now than it had been before. It seemed that even he had taken somewhat of an interest. "It isn't as though the rules say he can't still join. This is just a preliminary, randomized round that Elbrum added superficially. He's probably waiting."

The Emperor Dove looked over. "You mean he wants to be the one to challenge the 030 to 040 Sanctums on behalf of the E-tiers of his Sanctum?"

"It would be a good way to gauge if he has the strength or not. And I bet he's also confident in reaching the edge of the platform in case he isn't powerful enough to protect his life otherwise."

Elbrum's eyes narrowed, his gaze still on Sylas.

The randomized tournament continued swiftly, and without Sylas, the 073 Sanctum was lucky enough to win the first round, making it into the top half of the bottom 40, but they weren't so lucky again, losing the second.

After that, the loser's brackets played out and they ended up with the overall rank of 077.

All the while, the strongest of them, Aranya's disciple Morvok-a Serpentes who had already suffered a loss at Sylas' hand-never got a chance to even raise a weapon.

Frustrated, he could only stand there, completely unable to do what Sylas had done for the F-tiers.

As the time ticked back, the wounds on Sylas' body were only swiftly healing, and when Elbrum was about to speak again, his eyes shot open.
