Chapter 1746 What Need? [Bonus]

Sylas stood there in silence, huffing for breath. He hardly read the notifications, he already recognized what would happen. Even if the system didn't protect him, that system reward he received would almost certainly have been a method for him to escape.

The system wasn't as foolish as so many liked to pretend it was. Its rewards could be directed, as could its triggers. While it was the case that it had been manipulated many times, the method with which the system was manipulated was highly dependent on what it wanted to happen.

Of course, there were always times that it could be blindfolded to the truth, but those times still required careful planning and one could easily suffer greatly as a result.

The Glutton wanted to take advantage of the system's restrictions on Level in order to deal with Sylas, but he had ended up giving Sylas the perfect opportunity.

There was one state the Madness Key wasn't able to hide in, and that was when it was absorbing another Madness Key. The reason for this was because in such a state, it had to cross over two independent systems. That inevitably required both independent systems to meet in neutral territory.

There was only one such neutral territory available out here in the open.

It wasn't really the Glutton's fault he had fallen for such a trick. He could have not once expected that Sylas would be able to take off the Madness Key, nor would he be able to fathom that Sylas would be able to keep his Scorned Wraps even after he did.

It didn't make any sense. It broke all the rules he knew about Madness Disciples. Unless...

Unless Sylas had had a second Gluttony Madness Key that he had kept safe for precisely this moment all along.

In fact, that was the same conclusion anyone would make. It was impossible to leap to the conclusion that Sylas had a completely separate Madness Key he had formed from Virtue. The only way to even begin to make that second conclusion was if you knew about Virtue Disciples in the first place... And even Madness Disciples didn't know of them. So how many possibly could?

Right this moment, though he hadn't concluded it with 100% certainty, these were the thoughts that even someone as intelligent as the Young Master of the Purvon Clan was having.

However, he was questioning something.

For Sylas to plan this, he had to have known that the Glutton was close by...

How could he know that? Was it related to this second Gluttony Madness Key he had? Could he maybe have stolen a kill from the Glutton? That would explain why the Glutton was in such a dangerous region for Madness Disciples as well... The young heir's gaze flickered. He felt like he was missing something, but he didn't know what it was...

And then Sylas looked toward him and the young heir's eyes narrowed.

He knew the type of person Sylas was. Gloating, seeking validation, or anything of the sort weren't things that Sylas did. For him to be looking at him right now, those eyes carried a completely different meaning.

Sylas only casually glanced at the tower. He wasn't even sure what floor the Purvon Clan Heir was on, nor did it matter much to him. He was looking really only for one reason.

To remember something.
