Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1858

ο»ΏChapter 1858: Silence [Bonus]

[Bonus thanks to Rikstingray <3 May you never have another warm meal. Only cold chicken and canned foods for you, mister] Sylas stared at the Gene in silence.

It should have been a great accomplishment. It didn't quite feel that way.

He wasn't impressed.

Honestly speaking, Sylas couldn't remember ever feeling impressed with himself and his accomplishments. On rare occasions, he might praise someone else. But he had under no circumstances had that same internal dialogue about himself.

Whenever he saw someone accomplish something great, he was impressed because he didn't expect it from them.

Whenever he did the same, he was indifferent...

Because it was exactly what he expected of himself.

'This is true perfection of Rune Mastery. I don't believe there is a higher level to achieve.'

Sylas never thought he would see this day. Not because he didn't think he would ever reach it, but because he didn't think it existed at all.

How would one know they had reached the pinnacle of Rune Mastery? Why was he so sure that this was it?

Was he wrong?

It was possible. Maybe this feeling of the end of the road he was experiencing now was just an illusion. But what Sylas did know for certain was that right now he felt that it was impossible for him to improve his F-tier Rune Mastery any more than he already had.

This here was the limit. This was the pinnacle of the F-tier.

And there was no one-not Demi-God, nor God, nor whatever might lay beyond-that could draw an F-tier Rune he couldn't understand.

And by virtue of doing this, he felt himself standing in front of the door to Void Mastery of the E-tier.

From Spark Mastery to Perfect Spark Mastery... he stood right there, bordering on Pure Spark Mastery and just catching the sight of Void Mastery ahead of him.

It felt like such a short distance, and yet it felt so long and drawn out.

But Sylas knew that if he pressed just a little bit more, urged just the slightest bit greater... Chi.

He stepped into Pure Spark Mastery of the E-tier, a transition as smooth as butter.

His understanding of the world felt so full, so perfect, so great. He didn't experience the slightest hint of reluctance from the world, as though it was accepting him with open arms.

There was nothing that could hide from him, nothing that could shift his attention away from the goal at hand.

Sylas raised a palm and Genes began to appear.

These weren't Genes he was creating at all. Instead, they were from the creature that had vanished into his void just moments ago. Whereas the system only granted you a few Genes from the death of a creature, Sylas took them all.

From Physical Genes to Mental Genes to Will Genes...

To Unique Genes.

And then down to Gene Talents and Blood to Bone Essence, further to Soul Constructs and Comprehensions... Right down to the quintessence of their Race.

And then Sylas took a step beyond even that, feeling his fingers swimming through its Free Chaos, basking in its very Potential itself.

The creature hadn't just died-it crumbled into its most fundamental parts and portions, divided into constructs that made it... it.
