Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1878

Chapter 1878: One

Sylas seemed more focused on catching his breath than paying attention to the man in the air. The only thing he was even remotely concerned about in the outside world was Bulese's head, the hair of which he was still gripping tightly.

Bulese herself was still fighting to remain conscious, but the vast majority of her body was shutting down. Her senses had gone first, but her body was quickly atrophying in response.

Sylas had had to concentrate a large amount of his internal Aether into a single point in order to pull this off. Quite frankly, he had barely had any Aether left to use as the spark to signal his body to move.

Not only had he had to use over 90% of his Glassvolt Aether, but he had to use even more of his Chaotic Space Aether to compress it into a small enough segment that it wouldn't be noticed and would be sufficiently insulated from Maldrith's control in the brief instant of transfer.

Now, he couldn't use any external Aether from the atmosphere, and he hardly had any Aether left inside him. In a situation like this, he couldn't even use the most normal means to replenish himself at all. How could he, when the Aether in the air refused to respond to him?

At this point, it seemed like reversing the situation on Bulese was irrelevant. With a Progenitor present, it sounded that things would just end the same way they were meant to.

Maldrith, though, didn't seem in a rush to act or speak. He looked down, seemingly waiting for something. But the longer Sylas spent without saying a word or even acknowledging his existence, the more curious Maldrith became.

By comparison, Fanelei was paying quite a bit of attention to him. But why did he get the impression that... Fanelei feared Sylas far more than she feared him? In fact, it was pretty accurate to say that, outside of a bit of surprise, Fanelei wasn't even wary of him.

Could it be that Sylas was from a background even stronger than what Fanelei represented?

Just what was happening in the outside world, exactly?

'Hm?' Maldrith looked at Bulese and blinked. Then he looked at Kalem and felt even more surprised.

He hadn't been paying much attention before, mostly because he didn't care. But... why was it that Bulese and Kalem were radiating the auras of Demi-Gods?

It was slight and still immature. In fact, they hadn't quite grasped it yet, and it wasn't even remotely properly reflected in their Foundations. But it was there.

By comparison, Sylas, he...

Well, Maldrith was having a hard time seeing through Sylas despite the fact that the latter was on his world. He could suppress Sylas' control and bridge to the outside world, but he couldn't actually cross the boundary into Sylas' body itself—for the same reason Sylas couldn't just use his telekinesis to squeeze and explode someone's heart from a distance.

Kalem had attacked Sylas on sight for seemingly no reason at all. Could it be related to why it seemed his great- grandnephew and niece had opened the road to Demi-Godhood?

Could it be that the Beast Emperor Sanctum had successfully risen to Demi-God status?

If that was the case, it would be the greatest irony of all. After all, he had severed all ties with his Clan and the organization. This was why he hadn't experienced the same boon.

Ironically enough, had he never done that, the boost from Sylas' actions back then would have allowed him to ride the wave straight into S-tier.

Maldrith didn't know the full story, but he already knew enough to reach one clear conclusion...

He had missed out.
