Chapter 1892: Before my Pride (4)

That was the Monkey King's biases speaking.

Sylas wasn't thinking about continuously bashing his head into a wall until he got what he wanted.

He didn't think he was capable of losing in the first place. The idea of doing so sickened him to his stomach so much that he didn't even consider it.

When he made his plans, he constantly thought of the worst-case scenario, not because he was cowardly or always feared the worst possible result, but because he wanted to always be ready to crush whatever that worst- case scenario was.

It was why, when he had first started in this world, he cared so much about information. Only with enough information could he plan ahead as much as he needed to. Only with enough information could he accurately assess just what the worst-case scenario was. Only with enough information could he ensure that he would always win no matter the circumstance.

He wasn't bashing his head against a wall.

He just had too much Pride to take a step back just for the sake of seeking out victory another day.

Sylas might describe the Monkey King as a coward with limitations. He might feel that the Monkey King changed his own rules so fluidly because he didn't want the pain of dealing with failure. He ran from the possibility of failure for no other reason than to protect his Pride and what existed of it.

The Monkey King might describe Sylas as delusional and fighting a war of semantics. Was it really true that Sylas never took a step back? When he said back then that he would take 50 years to destroy the Emperor Sanctum, was he really not taking a step back? If he was so sure of himself, why didn't he head off to destroy them right then and there?

Which of them were correct? It was impossible to tell.

One of them had yet to grow to their full potential, and the other was a severely weakened projection sent from a distant past.

But what was certain was neither of them cared for these small details.

That was their own Pride.

Sylas' Pride Seed completely shattered, but in its place, his crimson Monkey King Armor was replaced by a golden one, his hair dancing in streams of white-gold that looked more like light than actual hair.
