Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1939

ο»ΏChapter 1939: Die

Just as Sylas was about to step out of his Hibernation realm, his gaze flickered and landed on Gogo and the enormous cocoon he had become trapped in.

It didn't take long for Sylas to understand what was happening. His Vipermancy quite literally gave him a nigh omnipotent understanding of most Serpentes, and that was doubly so for his own Contract.

'He's taken the last step on his own...'

But what really intrigued Sylas was the fact that given just how fast the recovery acceleration of the Hibernation Realm was by now, the fact that Gogo still hadn't burst out of the cocoon was... interesting.

Granted, the speed was less so for E-tiers than it was for F-tiers. But even so...

A shadow caught Sylas' attention and Nosphaleen appeared before him. She looked up at him a bit curiously and then smiled.

"Will you take me out?" she asked.

Sylas was a bit taken aback by her question. Usually, Nosphaleen didn't ask for much of anything.

After a while, he nodded. "Okay."

Her smile brightened and she found her place by Sylas' side.

A chuckle echoed in Sylas' ears. "A Mesmeryx? You are quite lucky, boy. They are very rare and I've heard their women taste excellent."

It was clear that the Hydra wasn't talking about meat at all. Or maybe he was.

The pervy grin was practically plastered all over Sylas' internal senses. And just as Sylas was about to directly ignore the Hydra, there was a shift within him.

"Oh? What's that?" the Hydra suddenly began to laugh. "Would you look at that, would you look at that? A Lust Seed? This is quite useful to me."

Sylas' steps paused and he stilled. He could feel the intent of the Hydra.

Just now, his Lust Seed had been provoked, but it wasn't because of himself. It was because it sensed the Lust of the Hydra itself and reacted to it as though it was Sylas.

The Hydra thought it could take advantage of this. After seeing the last few series of events, it didn't much like how things were going. But if it could poke and prod at these Seeds to force Sylas to react to deal with them, that could give him more leverage.

Ever since Cassarae demanded Sylas find another method of expelling the impurities in his body, Sylas hadn't thought of the Lust Seed much. Honestly, Sylas didn't think of the Gluttony Seed much either.

Their ability to improve his telekinesis was much more limited the more powerful he became. Unless he increased their strength proportionally, there was only so much they could help.

Plus, the power of Sylas' True Pride Seed was on a level of its own. It made them pale in comparison.

But that didn't mean that these Seeds weren't powerful deterrences. They just never bothered Sylas because his Pride was too great and suppressed them.

If they got help from the Hydra, though, that was another matter entirely.

"It seems we can't come to a working agreement if, even now, you have no understanding of your place until my belly. How arrogant would you become in the future, then?"

"For a beast who's lost its body, was forced to watch its grand ambition digest in the belly of another, and is now trapped in the mind of a Mortal of the Mortal Realm, your stupidity still somehow astounds me."

The Hydra's laughter only became more uproarious.

"You've only survived this long with me in your mind because I've allowed it. I restrained my aura, and yet the slightest leak of it shattered everything you were. My voice alone broke you.

"You think that because you've managed to form a Demi-God level mind that you are now immune to me? You think that because you created a small little F-tier, mal-formed representation of what a true Hydra is that you could possibly stand on my equal footing?

"You, human, truly know how to overestimate yourself. I would rather die here than allow you to pretend any longer that you can speak to me in such a way. π—³πš›π—²π•–πš πšŽπš‹π—»π—Όπ•§π—²π₯.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"But instead of that, I think I'll take the body of a Basilisk instead and lead it to greater heights.

"In the meantime... Die."

The Hydra stopped restraining its aura and it growled.

Sylas' lips only had the chance to part slightly in what looked like a reply before his head exploded.

His corpse swayed and he leisurely fell back.
