Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 2006

๏ปฟChapter 2006: Go [Bonus]

[Bonus thanks to Eeshoo. I hear he's promised to pay the college tuition of everyone who comments on this post AND their first born. What a generous man.] Veins popped across their necks, humiliation thick in their eyes, but they knew well that their lives were no longer in their hands. There was nothing that they could do.

Sylas was too strong.

Fighting against him when he was far weaker than you felt like you were facing the most elite of chess masters. When you fought against him and his strength was close enough... It felt like you were handing your life to him on a platter.

A telekinesis that strong at the mere E-tier... what sort of power would he have when he became a D-tier? Would there even be an A-tier capable of dealing with him?

But what was the point of all of this? Just to prove he could do it?

Sylas exhaled a breath and the domain around them collapsed. Beads of sweat covered his forehead, his breathing coming out just the slightest bit labored.

Using two Comprehensions at the same time was definitely taxing. He thought the only strain would be his Will, but he was highly wrong. His blood had to pump twice as fast, his muscles were pulled in twice as many directions, and even his Aether was a bit erratic and he had to turn his attention toward forcing it to stay calm.

In the world of Genes, even Comprehensions weren't just things you understood in the mind. They caused fundamental changes to your body.

To use a Comprehension meant aligning all of your body's biology to exert its influence. ๐™›๐’“๐’†๐™š๐’˜๐’†๐“ซ๐™ฃ๐“ธ๐™ซ๐“ฎ๐’.๐’„๐’๐“ถ

To try and use two Comprehensions at the same time would quite literally stretch you thin.

Sylas strained so much with just two, how much time would he be able to sustain three?

'But the concept is true. It works. Because the Virtue Seeds are just vessels of Will. They tune your Will to a specific frequency, anchoring it, thus allowing each one to represent any given Comprehension at one time.'

Sylas had Infinite Will. Why couldn't he just assign each one of his splits to a different thought process and do it that way?

He had tried to do this already, but the problem with his Infinite Will was that every time he portioned it, it was still him. Even when he formed a clone, it had no independent thoughts. Its thoughts were his thoughts and its thoughts were his own.

Less than a "clone", it was more like Sylas was just copying and pasting himself. Even if his main body "died", he would continue living just the same.

However, what the Seeds allowed him to do was tweak the frequency of those thoughts, allowing them to focus on slightly different things at the same time.

When they came together, he was thus able to sustain more than one Comprehension at the same time.

The Seeds... they were snippets of Will. That was what Sylas had concluded.

Each one was the best representation of a living being's attempt to recreate Will there was.

Sylas could perfectly craft a human corpse, but it would have no life or value to it, not without Will. But even with his Rune Mastery, he couldn't create Will, and thus he couldn't create Life.

But the Seeds... they were the closest thing there was.

As a result, with three of them in his body, it was like he could trick himself, the system, and the universe itself into thinking that there were actually three of him.

And because they were Virtues and not Sins, there would be no drawbacks to letting them take the reins and guide portions of his Will in this way. Of course with the Virtue of Pride at the helm.

The result?

Well, he was fairly sure that he could use three Comprehensions with ease now... and he didn't need to split his personality like Salivar had been forced to.
