Chapter 2030: Half

Alex shifted uncomfortably, his body looking for a way to leave. It was clear he really felt like Sylas would kill him. But that was when Sylas said something unexpected, something he never thought that he'd ever hear from Sylas.

"I won't kill you."

There was a calmness in Sylas' tone, almost like he was trying to... soothe him, and yet failing miserably.

Alex didn't even know what to do with this current sensory information. It was like everything he had known about the world had become a microcosm of insanity spinning in mind, swirling in various colors, and then coming out the wrong hole in a diarrhea of absolute nonsense.

He reached a hand forward and touched Sylas' forehead. Even the fact he succeeded in that left him in shock.

"Are you sure that you're Sylas Grimblade...? Who are you? You know, you've already killed me once, Legacy. There's no need to fuck with me just to end up screwing me over again, right? Just kill me and get it over with."

Sylas swatted Alex's hand away. "Answer the question."

"Holy shit." Alex was speechless. "That cyber horse dude said something about women and things getting fucked up. You must have gotten really fucked up. Let me guess-actually, maybe I shouldn't, I like my life the way it is."

Alex almost instantly thought of Nosphaleen. That was the most obvious ticking time bomb ever, and he also knew that a certain Dommy Mommy wasn't just going to let that slide either.

If he had had friends he could actually talk shit with, he just might have started taking bets on whether it would be Nosphaleen or Cassarae who broke first. He didn't know what the answer to that question was right now, but it didn't matter.

Whatever it was, it ended up hurting Sylas' brain to the point Alex was still not 100% sure whether or not the man had full control of his faculties at all.

Alex cleared his throat again. "So, how exactly did we meet?"

"If death is what you want, it can be arranged." Sylas said coldly.

Alex jumped up and laughed. "Ah, that's the Sylas I know. Okay, okay, okay. Maybe I've still been hiding secrets from you. You see, when you sign a System Oath, it ties your Will, but-."

Sylas' eyes narrowed. It seemed that he had overlooked something quite important.

System Oaths, System Contracts, and things of the like, were matters that were done under the, well... system. That much was obvious. What was also quite obvious was the fact that the system only functioned with the Will of the Real World.

Meaning, if there was a situation where Alex had had Demonic Will before Sylas forced him into a Contract, if he was clever enough in how he handled things, it was very much possible that he could have circumvented the Contract ahead of time and given himself some wiggle room.
