Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 2104

Sylas looked up, skeptical. Things never went this easily for him.

Granted, if Arcane Madness was really interested in making his life a nightmare, it could. Arcane Madness was unfathomably strong, and despite the fact Sylas had been in the belly of an S-tier World Serpent before, it somehow felt like Arcane Madness could have treated it like a child.

The gap was impossible to measure.

But for whatever reason, Arcane Madness seemed to be quite fond of him despite the fact he enslaved Serpentes and had abandoned the Path of Gluttony. Honestly, for Sylas who prided himself in understanding most things, this was a complete anomaly to him.

He was neither kin to Arcane Madness, nor did he benefit it in any way.

'Could it really be that simple?'

The only explanation Sylas could think of was the very same reason Arcane Madness never cared to hide its intentions. Arcane Madness' Will spilled out so clearly you might as well have been listening to its inner thoughts when it spoke, hearing what it wanted to say and sensing what its heart reflected at the same time. Well, so long as your Will control, comprehension, and sensitivity was high enough, anyway.

It didn't care to hide these things because it didn't matter whether its enemy knew of them or not… it wouldn't make a single difference. It was far too powerful.

So why was it so interested in Sylas? Simple.

Entertainment.

So long as that entertainment didn't mess with its things, and this Hell happened to be amongst Arcane Madness' things.

Now, whether Arcane Madness wanted more than just that, the only answer Sylas had was… maybe. But the current Sylas certainly couldn't do a single thing for it.

A scream echoed and a violent wind whipped by. Fanelei appeared with a wild look in her eye, her fist punching at the air right in front of her as though she was already meeting a great enemy.

She had only been here for a few seconds, but she looked heavily injured. There was a huge gash out of her side that went down to her bone, revealing organs that would have been spilling out if not for the fact her rib cage was still attached… for the most part.

Her head spun toward Sylas, her eyes red with Madness. She was about to lash out when realization hit her.

Exhaling a heavy breath, she blinked in confusion. "Sylas?"

Fanelei suddenly blurred, her palm grabbed Sylas' neck. Sylas reacted fairly quickly, his Rune Mastery flashing, but he was still holding the Genesis Forge Ore.

The ore clashed with his Rune Mastery, slowing it before he could react properly.

He sent it back into his Madness Key with a thought, his mind whirring through several thoughts and potential solutions.

BANG.

His back slammed against a wall, knocking his head into half a daze. But instead of pain, he felt a pair of lips press against his.

Sylas frowned, his vision clearing. There was a small tremor from the Virtue Lust Seed, one that he suppressed almost as instantly as it appeared.

The gaze of Arcane Madness looked especially amused, but the Serpentes Ancestor clearly had not the slightest intention of stepping in. This was what Sylas wanted, after all.

Fanelei's tongue pressed against Sylas' teeth with so much strength she nearly shattered them. Sylas had never personally experienced the power of a Legend, but it was clearly exceptional. If she wasn't actively trying not to shatter his skull right now, maybe it already would be.
