Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 2173

Sylas' Demonic Will churned, his Charisma pressing itself down onto the world with such force that—.

BANG.

Thessa fell heavily to a knee. She coughed up a mouthful of blood, her eyes fading for a moment as though her Will would be snuffed out by Sylas' presence alone.

Seemingly realizing that death was too close on the horizon, she roared and snapped out of it, her feet tapping at the ground until she expanded the distance as far as she could without slamming into the wall that blocked the outside from them.

Sylas breathed evenly, sparking flames continuing to form out from the corners of his mouth. Every time it did, another part of his body was burned away just a little bit. But he didn't seem to notice at all.

Thessa looked at Sylas and she fell into a daze for a moment. In that instant, she was sure that she had not once seen a man more handsome, more perfect in her life.

Her eyes misted over, her breathing becoming slightly heavier. She barely managed to stop herself from shredding all her clothes off and launching herself at Sylas.

Whether she was impaled by his scythe or another blade entirely, she didn't care as long as a piece of him was inside of her.

PA!

The thoughts she was having were so wild she smacked herself, her gaze slowly shifting up to the horns on Sylas' forehead.

"… Demon…"

She was sure just moments ago that Sylas was human. When had he become a Demon? Was that why he had been so frail before? Was he using some special method to avoid detection at the cost of his strength?

That made more sense considering the fact the Duchess was so in love with him. There was no way that such a pure Demon Bloodline would fall for a human.

Demons and the Humanoids were like fire and water, they didn't mix at all. They hated one another's guts with a fervent passion. The wars between them weren't just caused by some political strife from an impossible number of generations ago. They were caused by a visceral distaste that went down to their very bones.

That was what had always dictated things for them and what would always dictate them.

But no matter how much sense this answer made… Thessa simply couldn't bring herself to accept it. It just wasn't right. It just didn't make sense.

"Charysm…"

Thessa bit down on her tongue. Hard. Blood flowed down her chin, no small bit of her flesh falling to the ground as she had chopped off a decent amount of it. She wasn't going to take any chances, not with this level of Will bearing down on her.

"I do not fear you, demon." She spoke with her Will, her mouth moving as the echoes of her Will spread far and wide. She raised her bow and pulled the string back.

A second bowstring appeared on its body, multiplying against its strength as an arrow formed from swirling silver energy.

The world whined as she fired from her knee, not wasting the energy to stand.
