Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 2200

Sylas bent down, sinking his hand into the sand. There was a flicker in his gaze as he felt the heated coarseness. It wasn't just a normal dryness. It was like… 'Death.'

A death energy radiated from the entire planet, and even the weight of the Demi-God Plane was somewhat weaker here. It was like everything was just… dulled.

He could feel a sadness echoing from the planet, almost like it was a man bleeding out on his knees. Sylas could almost see the image of the man breathing his last, his family members, his wife, his children, his parents, having gone ahead before him.

Sylas' thumb moved over the Legacy of Key badge.

The illusion was so clear to the point it projected from his mind, forming lines of truth. And then the world began to change. Water bubbled up from the sand, the coarse ground became lush and bright, the clear skies began to gain large, fluffy white clouds… It was all nothing but an illusion, a projection of what the world had once been, but it still felt so real nonetheless… because it had once been exactly that.

But no longer.

Someone, something, or some ones and some things had caused this.

'A powerful Race, indeed. But a devastating one. Why is Elara so interested in this place, though?'

The ability to drain a world was interesting, but even if Sylas managed to gain something great from its Legacy, it was still a dead world.

Elara also didn't understand the details of how Legacy of the Key worked either, so the Legacy shouldn't be why she had directed them to choose this place.

'Peculiar.'

Sylas had always felt that his sister was intelligent, but her methods of thought and his own were very different. Not all forms of intelligence were the same.

But as devious as his sister was, she wouldn't use something like this to pull a practical joke.

Sylas stood to his feet.

If the answer wasn't obvious in the world itself, then it should become clearer when he met the natives of this world.

But… he had a feeling that the current ruling race weren't natives at all. Otherwise, this world wouldn't be in this state.

Chi.

A whistling filled the air.

Sylas didn't react much to the notification. He thought that there might be some differences to note with the system, but it looked the system had no real difference at all.

At least if there was one, it wasn't yet obvious.

Maybe it was a bit reckless to try and face off against an entire planet of warriors the moment he stepped into the Demi-God Plane. This was certainly not the mortal plane any longer and his nigh invincibility there didn't transfer here.
