Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 2213

Sylas looked up at the eye, his body having already returned to that of a human. His gaze didn't seem moved or bothered by it any longer.

He sat on the top of the mountain, overlooking Earth as white clouds with just the slightest hint of gold in them floated by. It almost looked as though the gods had sprinkled ambrosia onto their whole planet, and the union of the peak of life and the peak of death was truly a sight to behold.

To say that the planet had reached an unprecedented state of beauty still felt like an understatement.

The ocean waters that protected them in rings around their world had changed. From a radiant, beautiful blue, they became roaring rivers of white gold and black gold, the contrast and dichotomy of the churning liquid pulling at the heart.

It almost felt like even if one wasn't a Fathomless Rune Creator, you could feel the pull and allure of the rings. Sylas had a feeling that Earth would truly begin to produce a great number of Rune Mastery talents under this kind of environment. It was simply impossible that they not be able to.

So much about what had made Sylas' Rune Mastery journey so difficult was Earth's damaged Runes.

It was a fact he glossed over a lot, but the first step in Rune Mastery was Rune Sight. To reach Rune Sight, you had to be able to sense and see Runes, and that was already hard enough when the Runes of the world around you were in a protective state because they were so impossibly fragile.

But then by the time you got to Rune Visualization, the second stage of Rune Mastery, you didn't just have to sense the Runes, you had to actually see them in the realest sense. This wasn't the "seeing" mentioned in Rune Sight. Rune Sight was almost like the activation of a sixth sense. Seeing with Rune Sight was almost like reaching your hand into a black box and trying to understand what it was you were feeling.

But with Rune Visualization, it was a truest form of sight.

Sylas remembered the first time he had seen the Runes of Earth. They looked like they were broken and bruised, cancerous, grotesque growths spawning across them. If not for his genius, who could even begin to interact with Runes like these?

And then there was the third foundational pillar of Rune Mastery introduction, Rune Enlightenment.

Now you had not only to sense these Runes, and interact with them, but also to be able to understand them, communicate with them, hear them.

What communication could these broken Runes possibly give you?

Sylas had read many books in the Weaver Guild, amongst them were even the training methods for young Rune Masters. He had wanted to read even the simplest books so he could fill in all the gaps he could have possibly been missing.

One thing that had fascinated him was the apparent importance of training the three foundational Rune sensory perceptions as early as possible.

The earlier a child could begin to naturally interact with Runes, the better odds they would have of unearthing their full potential in the future—there were even some scholars that argued that this would increase potential.

The best analogy was like those born at higher altitudes who lived their lives there. Their lung capacities, their ability to deal with lower oxygen content, and their efficiency in using said oxygen would often be higher than those born at lower altitudes, at least until the latter group adapted.

High altitude stadiums were one of the biggest home field advantages you could have in sports.
