Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 792

Chapter 792 Dangerous Charisma

Nyssa stood frozen in the air, stunned. However, as time ticked by, and the rolling emotions in her heart slowed, she slowly began to lick her lips.

There was a light of desire in her eyes that hadn't been there before. When she looked at Sylas' almost bestial form, his wild aura, and his calm, cold confidence, she found herself having to snap out of her own thoughts.

'This man's Will is dangerous…'

Before, Sylas' shocking Will was suppressed because his Charisma was lagging much too far behind. For as long as he could remember, he had always had superior Will to Charisma.

But after forming Shaping Will, he took another step forward. Now, his Will practically took permanent, tangible form, causing his Charisma stat to act far more like its namesake suggested it should.

Clearly, though, it wasn't just a matter of feeling that he was attractive. What attracted Nyssa most wasn't even just Sylas' strength either…

It was his potential.

There was no reason for Sylas to take such blows, not if he wasn't going to finish off the battle so easily anyway. That meant that he adjusted mid-battle and somehow surpassed all expectations.

What these people feared the most about Sylas wasn't his current strength, but rather what he could become.

That was why they wanted to control him.

Nyssa took a breath and composed herself, but the infatuation in her eyes was only growing deeper.

The main issue with having such a powerful husband was that they were hard to control. She didn't like that. The women of her Race always loved to be on top, to be dominant, to be the strong wind at the back of a powerful sail.

She was no different.

But that required the right target.

Unfortunately, she wasn't as talented as some of her sisters and she could only limit the scope of her outreach. But her throat burned with acid whenever she thought about having to bed an inferior man.

This target, though… He was perfect.

An inferior background, but the grit of a man far superior.

She wouldn't be able to find any better.

For a moment, she hung in the skies, her Aether rolling as vines wiggled about beneath her feet. Then, she exhaled a slow, sensual breath and chose patience.

Now wasn't the time.

The vines brought her back up to the pod she and Erythra shared, but her eyes never left the arena before her. This final battle… she wanted to see how far this target of hers could go.

Mospheral scraped a finger down his table. Although his nail didn't scratch the surface, the strength of the pad of his finger alone pressed down with such force that the wood compressed.

By the third pass across the same groove, he suddenly stopped.

The table wobbled on the teetering edge of splitting in two, before it slowly stabilized itself and relaxed.

Everything that could be done had already been done. This Sylas would surely pay a price.

"As you all know, the last round is usually a Matrix Battle, but with the stakes being so high, and the results being so unexpected, we can't possibly keep things so bland and uninteresting, right?

"So, we've chosen to change things at the last moment. This battle will take place in the… Rune Avatar Scape!"

The crowd's eruption boiled over in a fever pitch.

The Matrix Battle was none other than the challenge of the Breath Master Secret Realm, one where a grid system of Runes would appear and only would have to shift and transform the Runes within to spontaneously combine into one.

This was the usual concluding round of this challenge for obvious reasons. It was something everyone was familiar with, and it was the perfect cap to a celebration of ascending beyond the Breath Mastery Realm to the Flesh Mastery Realm.

But, Chase was right… although this was obviously another attempt to target Sylas and ensure a victory, there was no doubt that the crowd had grown bored of seeing this challenge again and again.

With the skills that Sylas had displayed until now, those pulling strings in the background had no confidence that Lorien would be able to secure a victory.

Of course… Lorien herself felt differently. But it wasn't her place to say anything as much… not yet, anyway.

As for the Rune Avatar Scape, it was a Will Projection World, one where one could only attack, defend, and move with aspects of Rune creation and control.

It was a completely different sort of battle, one that couldn't rely on Skills or even Genes outside of ones directly related to Runes and Rune production.

And for someone who had never fought a battle like this… it was practically like throwing Sylas to the wolves.

With a flash, Sylas found himself opening his eyes in a bland world of grey that extended to infinity. Across from him, an equally bland avatar stood without a face and not even the features of a woman.

And yet, he already felt danger warning signs spiking in his mind.
